I am thinking of investing in a portable charger with the new MaxPass and all, and remember people mentioning some models that were particularly good. I don't want one that is too big, and its probably just for one or two phones - any suggestions? TIA! :goodvibes

You can also consider getting a FuelRod. There are stations throughout DL and DCA that allow you to exchange an empty battery for a new full one. It is super handy and small. I've never had an issue getting a full charge from just one of them, but it's great to know I can just exchange for a new one rather than have to deal with recharging it!

If you buy at the park it is $30, but if you get online ahead of time it's $20: https://www.fuel-rod.com/

Yeah...if you re looking for DL specific solution the Fuel Rod is the way to go...just swap for a charged unit whenever you need it. There are several nations around the park.

Probably not the best bang for the buck charger but you are paying for the convince of the free swaps wherever needed.

That sounds very convenient - I think I would have to get it at Disney as it doesn't look like they are sold in Canada....

My friend got one last week at the airport (Sacramento). I'm not sure if the airport in Canada would have one, but if you're flying in, you can likely get one at the airport in California. They're $20 there as well.

She used it all through our trip and the convenience of being able to swap out the old rod for a new one was great. The drawback was that it charged verrrrrrrrry slowly.

We got the mycharge mini and used it at DLR this summer. It was great. It will fully charge a phone twice. We usually used it once on my phone and once on DH's phone when they got fairly low- probably around 20%- , and we never ran the charger out (it has 4 lights on it so you can see how drained it is). You can recharge it at night in the room. They run around $29.99. I would definitely recommend some sort of portable charger now with the wait times being online; character and character times being online; max pass being on line; photopass photos being online etc. We definitely needed a recharge during the day and we did not even do maxpass as it started on the last day of our trip.

I like my Jackery 6000mAh. It can charge at least two phones, and they charge very quickly. They cost anywhere from $17-$25 on Amazon. I don’t know if they sell them in Canada. It also has the lights to tell you what the battery level is at.

After dealing with cheap crappy rods and sticks that I have gotten free at conventions, we just picked up one of these for our recent trip to WDW and it was overkill for the 4 of us. Me, DW and two teenage daughters, i went with this one for the dual ports to charge two phones at once. We would get back to the hotel at night and this thing would still be 1/2 or 3/4 charged.

If it were just 2 of us and 2 phones I would probably have bought this one for the size weight, even this little one will full charge 2 iphone 7s or probably 4 iphone 5s:

We just got back this week from Disneyland, and I really liked this charger:

I had purchased it so we could make sure our phones were charged to use Max Pass. It could charge my Android phone probably 2 or 3 times on one charge, I never found out because I never used up all the charge. I also thought that Max Pass and the Disney App didn't use as much power as I was anticipating, only had to recharge my phone during the day on one of our 3 days there. I did use the charger later in our trip (on our way to San Diego) with extensive use of the Waze App.

This is my favorite charger. I have a couple of them. My kids laugh when they see me buy them, and then are the first to "borrow" them.

This is our favorite as well. I bought it about a year ago before one of our trips and it's so convenient.

We have mophie battery cases on our phones. we can get a full charge fairly quickly, and you can still use it while it's charging. they are bulkier than a slim tech21 flexible type case, but not as bulky as an otterbox IMO.

I have a portable charger by PNY. I love it! I picked it up at Best Buy(here in Canada) a few years ago. I'm able to charge my iPhone SE about 3 times from almost zero battery. I can't imagine Disney park days, day trips or camping without it...it's a lifesaver!

I have an Anker, it’s about the size of a deck of playing cards. Love the convenience and not having to hunt around for a wall outlet. I got at least 3 full charges for an iPhone 6.

Portable chargers are measured in something called mah (no idea what that means lol). I have one that’s 8,000 mah and it’s super fast and will fully charge my phone 3 times or so. When you look for one, get one that has a big mah number.

Another thing to consider is the cable... I didn’t want to carry a cable with me so I bought one with a built in iPhone cable.

This is the one I got. Pros are it’s super fast, cable built in, and charges my phone several times. Cons are that it is big and heavy.
