Quick question for you DVC vets out there - which DVC resort at The World has the best pool?

We are at OKW now and like the pool here, but thought about doing some pool hopping this morning and need some help on which one to go to.

I'm sure there is already a thread on this, but in my quick search I couldnt find it. Plus my kids (ages 12, 9, & 7) are howling for breakfast, so any help would be appreciated. :dance3:

TIA! :thumbsup2

I've been a DVC member for several years now and have stayed at most of the hotels with children from infants to teenagers. I found my kids liked these pools in this order

1. Wilderness Lodge
2. Boardwalk
3. Beach Club (being working on as of this date)
4. OKW (loved the lighthouse sauna)
5. Animal Kingdon.

Be sure to check on the restrictions prior to heading over to the other hotels. have a great trip.

Actually the nicest ones to go to do not allow pool hopping (AKV and BCV).

After those I would say CSR the kids really enjoyed.

Check your portable perks you recieved at check in will give you the exclusions.

You can hop to all pools at any Disney resort but no hopping permitted at the following:
~ any pool at AK Resort or AK Villas(Kidani)
~ Stormalong Bay at YC/BC Resort or to BC Villas pool
~ Bay Cove pool at Bay Lake Tower(DVC Villas pool at Contemporary)

Our kids always enjoyed the pool at Port Orleans - French Quarter with sea serpent slide, my nephews (11 & 7) love the main pool at Caribbean Beach Resort (Old Port Royale) because of it's old stone fort theme & water cannons and the volcano pool at Polynesian Resort is a cool pool too.

Best wishes :goodvibes

Wow...you voted Boardwalk before Beach Club, I have alwasy heard that Beach Cluib pool is better...can you say why Boardwalk over Beach Club...curious

I was surprised at that also.

Sounds like we have lots of great options.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll let the kids read this thread and let them decide! (That probably means we'll be at more than one :thumbsup2)

Well, for one, you can't hop to the BC, so its out of your set for this trip.

We like the BW pool better because we can actually SEE our children. And the kids like the slide better. SAB is really spread out and its easy to lose your kids.

(If I were going to redesign SAB - the lazy river would go on the other side of the slide. So you'd have "zero entry" - then "deeper pool with slide" - "then eight foot deep lazy river." And I'd clean up the sight lines.)

As PPs have mentioned, the 2 best pools, BCV and Kidani, are non-hoppable (I just made that word up, but I'm going with it).

Actually, we've done pool hopping days and our kid's 1st choice of pool that we can hop to was OKW. After that, they like the Keister Koaster at BWV.

We usually choose our pool-hopping choices both by considering pool and what else we can do in the area. ie. CSR may have a neat pool, but there's not much else to do there except swim, where BWV has a few other things we enjoy within close proximity - pin trading at several resorts, cool places to get ice-cream, restaurants we enjoy, etc.

I just posted the same question. I was thinking CS would be good...
Great suggestions.

This is the perfect example of "to each his/her own"! We did not like BWV pool at all, although baby pool was nice for our girls for a short time, then they got bored. The big pool, I cannot see what people like about it? It's just a plain basic pool with a slide. BCV I thought had the best pool, it was unique and the kids loved the sand and it entertained all of us for hours. AKV-Kidani also had a nice pool for small children, with a zero entry so my 2 yr old could just play in the shallow water. My vote is Stormalong Bay though hands down! :goodvibes

SAB rocked when my kids were the age yours are. But a year later - when my wandering son was six - it was grey hair inducing. Imagine a kid who is a ok swimmer, who wants to be on his own, and who you still want to keep a subtle eye on at SAB.

Now they are 11 and 12, they have no interest in zero entry or sand. A plain pool with a slide - or a waterpark. They'd rather go to Typhoon Lagoon, but if they can't do that, they like the BWV slide better.

SAB has the most going on and aa little for everyone, however I dont think its a good pool for little kids, too big a complex

Some also feel that SAB has a stronger current of water that may be difficult for younger kids.

Storm along and kidanis share the top for me.

Stormalong has the cool slide and Kidani has the bar and the savanah right there.

I agree with this, unfortunately you can not pool hop at those. Since you are at OKW I would first try SSR's pools.

Wow! Thanks for all the great replies!

So on Wednesday when I originally posted this question, we decided to head over to BWV and play there. The reason we picked that was because there is other stuff to do over there and we wanted to check that out too.

We liked BWV a lot. The slide was great, and the pool was big.

We decided to wander over to BCV to check out SAB too. We couldn't get in to pool hop (we knew that and weren't expecting to) but we all agree that BCV is a must stay on a future trip so we can play in SAB!

Thursday we almost drown from the rain LOL! :rotfl2:
So we decided to hop in the car and pool hop at Vero Beach, since the radar showed it was clear down there. For future reference, for anyone looking to do a day trip away from the parks and you have a car, this is a GREAT option! They were more than welcoming (especially since they knew Disney was contemplating building an ark in Orlando). The combination of beach and a great pool made for a great day. They also have fun activities and it was a very relaxing day away from the fun chaos of WDW.

Friday we decided to head over to VWL, since this is our home resort for the last 8 years and we have never set foot in the place. We were very underwhelmed at the pool there. The building and grounds were nice, but just didn't have that "Disney magic feel" to us. Since it was our last day, I asked the kids which pool they wanted to go back to, and they unanamiously chose OKW.

I have to say, it was really nice having this pool hopping option, since now we know what the other resorts are like, and know which ones to shoot for with our next ressies.

Thanks again for all the suggestions!
