Best pool for young kids ages 4 to 6_

AK's Kidani Village pool and mini water park ~ hands down!

SAB is worth a try even with small children since it provides a lot of options with controlled access to the pool. While it is overall a large pool it is supporting two resorts, it is defined by distinct areas.

We stayed at both BC and Poly and for my boys who are not swimmers, the Poly was the better choice. My youngest even did the slide at the Poly (with swimmers on) and you can watch your children very easily at this pool because it is very small (in comparison to the BC). Another advantage (which I am sure you know) of the Poly pool is getting to see the Magic Kingdom while you are swimming and even fireworks if you swim late enough!!!!

Now my daughter is older and a good swimmer and she loved the BC pool and slide. My husband and I liked it as well. And the little kid slide at BC is nice. But the pool is sprawling and hard to keep track of multiple children unless you make them all stay together (like we do). And the entrance to the shipwreck slide isn't even directly in the pool area but out near the beach! :scared1:

Now we have never stayed at AKVillas but we walked around the pool area last trip after we ate at Saana. This pool and water play area looks like a lot of fun!!! Especially if you plan to spend lots of time at the resort!

Good luck deciding!

We loved the Kidani pool. It also has a smaller slide for little ones. My kids were 9,5,4,3, and 18mo. They also liked Jambo Houses Pool. My toddlers were happy with ANY kiddie pool. I agree with PP about any pool with the Zero entry will work out for you. But Kidani's splash area is a true water playground.

SAB for sure! Our boys were 4 and 5 when we stayed there last spring. They LOVED it. And, so did DH and I. :thumbsup2 It is such a fun pool! We decided that next time, we'll stay longer JUST so we can spend more time in the pool. Our youngest wore a life vest the entire time --shortly thereafter, he began swimming independently, so our next trip will be vest-free :cool1: Our oldest was a strong, independent swimmer, so he was allowed to go on the big slide, which he must have done about 100 times! DH and I took turns going down the slide when he wanted to do so. The baby pool in the back of the ship slide has a mini slide that my 4 year old loved. The pool itself is about 3 ft deep, though. BUT, the best part of the pool was the HUGE sandbar wading area. Wow! This area rocks for kids of ALL ages. Water is from 0" (at the sandbar) to a maximum of about 18" at the edges. There were toddlers and kids of all ages playing here, making sand castles, etc. My younger son actually LOVED the lazy river area too! He would just float on his back (with the vest on) and go around and around. DH and I had fun diving down to the bottom of the 8ft section! Can't do THAT at most other WDW resorts. Also, we loved how the hot tubs were integrated into the pool, so DH and I could sit in there while the boys played in the sandbar. So cool!

I love all the "fear monger" posts you see about SAB and it being overwhelming for young kids. Let me ask you: do you put your kids in the pool and then sit on a chair and take a nap? If not, I don't see how SAB is any more dangerous or overwhelming than any other resort pool. At 4 and 6, you'll probably be in the water with them, no? Plus, there were more lifeguards at this pool than I've ever seen at any other WDW resort pool, and they were VERY vigilant about enforcing rules and squashing reckless behavior when they saw it.

I'd recommend SAB to families with kids of ALL ages.

We stayed at BLT last fall and my kids loved the pool. My kids were 4, 3 and 1at the time. They have a small slide that my oldest loved, a zero entry area and a big slash pad they all enjoyed.

I posted earlier about why we love SAB, but had to post again to agree with this! :thumbsup2

CBR has a great kiddie pool w/pint sized slides! I was very relaxed letting my 4 and 2.9 year olds play and splash. I wasn't filled with anxiety:scared1: like I get at a regular pool.

Thank you for all the replies!!!!!!! We watch our kids like hawks! Even if they were in a 2 foot pool I would not lay back in a chair and close my eyes. Usually I will watch one and my husband will watch the other and of course we swim with them as well. I don't think my oldest would even do the big slide and I hope she wouldn't because I don't think I like the set up for the slide at SAB. We really want to stay at BC or YC next time. The Wilderness Lodge pool is small and very manable, we just want to try someplace new.

AKL pools sound really nice but I have no desire to stay in that area because there is no other transportation other than buses. I need to be able to boat, walk, or monorail to at least 1 park. But I really want to eat at Sanaa next time and look forward to seeing that resort area and that might change my mind :)

Poly pool sounds really nice too, as well as CBR!

Looks like we have some options, thank you again for the replies :)
