Hi - we'll be staying at the Poly in a couple weeks! We've booked garden view, and I was wondering if I should request a certain building. We have our two little guys with us (2 1/2 and 7 months) and will be spending a good amount of time in the room for naps, early bedtime, etc. I'm thinking buildings by the pools would probably not be the greatest, since they can be loud. I did request first floor, for fear my adventurous almost 3 yo would love to dive over a balcony. My son also loves sand, and would like beaches close by. We've stayed at Tahiti LV and Rapa Nui GV in the past.

I appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

We loved our garden view room in Fiji overlooking the marina, GCH, and partial lagoon view. :) If you do a search you might be able to find my pictures. :)

Having just returned, I would say Samoa (non-smoking) or Niue (smoking). We spent a week at Samoa and loved the location--close to both pools, the beach, and the GCH. Little ones move slowly, and the walk from the outer buildings to the pools is quite a hike.

Unlike others, we didn't find the noise to be significant, but we were facing the quiet pool side. Most of the noise came from the golf carts clanking across the sidewalk.

If you're looking for quiet rooms, request Tokelau or Tahiti. Samoa is near the pool and can be loud. Fiji and Aotearoa are near the Luau so it can be loud at certain points of the night. And just to add my two cents, fax a request and ask for rm 1913, 1912, 1915 or 1916. These are ground floor in Tokelau and have some great views from the patios!

I stayed in this room on my last visit and it was "wicked" good. You can see the lagoon & the Grand Floridian resort, it is just steps away from the Tahiti beach and a quick walk to the main building & monorail. This is a non-smoking building and I found the room to be very quiet. There is a patio, with chairs and a table and the view is just beautiful (especially in the morning). My family stayed in the Samoa building last year and (unless it has changed recently) is a smoking (not non-smoking) building. I have pictures of the room & view on another website, but will have to post that in another post, as I can't locate the exact link.

Samoa is now a non-smoking building, and therefore VERY popular with families. Just keep that in mind if you have your heart set on it (hundreds of others want those rooms too)

Thanks everyone for your input. Tokeleu looks very nice, but I seem to remember reading that it's currently under rehab? We'll be arriving Sunday, Nov. 30.

Also, does anyone know where I can order a birthday cake and balloons for my DH? Should I order a cake from the Poly, or does anywhere offsite do it and deliver? I'll be inviting my in-laws, so it will be 4 adults, and 1 child eating.

Thank you!

bring insect spray. Had 1st floor and got eaten alive. Pools are too cold, IMHO, for little ones at night. Just a heads up.:D

Tokelau is not under rehab and won't be any time soon. Tulvalu is currently closed.

We just returned from Poly with our 3 kids (7, 5, and 2) and were in Fiji, 3rd floor, facing the beach, Grand Floridian, Chapel and in the distance the monorail. We really enjoyed this location. I had requested Samoa, but so does everyone else! The desk clerk said about 80% of guests request this building, so it is difficult to get. We really loved our location. My kids got a real kick out of being able to see the monorail. We looked out onto a small beach that never had anyone at it. (so we could also see the lagoon). The location was very close to the GCH and the MK monorail, which is a big plus with the stroller set! Good luck!

Hmmm.....Tuvalu is currently closed? We had reqested two smoking rooms and were hoping for Tuvalu. I wonder when it will be re-opened?

I think Tuvalu is supposed to reopen some time in January. Next building after that to be renovated I believe is Rarotonga.

Ditto on Fiji. Last time we stayed at the Poly we had a second floor room overlooking the marina. Our 2 year old loves boats so it was great. Access to the, pool, main building, monorail, and boat launch was fine. We requested the same thing for our nights next week.

I loved being on the monorail side of Aotearoa. We found the monorail very entertaining and there was a bit of grass and a sidewalk right outside our room. It was a short walk to the GCH and Captain Cooks.

You can see pictures of my room (1209) at Tikiman's great website:
