Best plan to get to Seaworld from Poly?

We are staying at the Poly. One day we plan to go to Seaworld and then to T-REx for dinner(have a ressie at 7pm ). My plan was to take the Lynx bus (I think that is what it is called!) from the Poly to Seaworld. Then I had heard I could catch another bus from Seaworld to DTD where T-REx is...and then catch another bus from DTD back to the Poly.

I have been on the Poly threads, and people were complaining about the buses from DTD..and when I asked about it..someone mentioned my plan was too complicated...and to just take a taxi.

The problem is there are five of us..Now I am considering renting a car for the day?? It is the day before we leave...so I could pick it up the morning of Seaworld and then drive ourselves to the airport and drop it off there...I just didn't want to have to spend 150 dollars on a car while we were there...

Is this my best option? Do I go with the buses?
TIA

I think I'd be inclined to rent the car from the Car Care Center. Costwise, it shouldn't make much difference whether you drop it back at the CCC or at MCO; that'll be your preference as to whether you'd rather drive to the airport or take DME. The rental will cost more than the Lynx bus, but since there's 5 of you, it may not be much more.

There is no way the rental will be close to the Lynx.

The "minimum" on the rental if lucky will be a compact for $30, plus gas, plus parking at Sea World. Even for a 24 hour rental, you are looking at $50 - $60.

The Lynx to Sea World is $2.00 per person each way. So that is $20.00 total!!

In the morning - take the #50 from the TTC to Sea World. (Make Sure you tell the driver you are stopping at Sea World.)

In the evening, just go to the appropriate bus stop outside of Sea World. (It is across the road from the one you arrive at). and get off at Downtown Disney Westside.

Then walk over to T-Rex, then after dinner take a Poly bus back to your resort.

Sounds really simple to me.

If you rent a car at Disney, then you have to take time to be picked up from the Poly, then go to the CCC, then rent the car, then back to pick up your family, then off to Sea World, pay for parking, then drive back to DTD where parking is TERRIBLE, then back to the Poly (you must remember to get a parking pass when you check into the Poly and make sure you take it with you when you rent the car.), then since you rented it so early in the morning to go to Sea World, then you have to either return it at CCC to stay with a 24-hour rental, or leave for the airport really early, then find gas, fill it up, etc., etc. and spend more money doing it!! (Also if you get delayed in any of this, it shortens your day at Sea World, or you get into a 2-day rental, which doubles the cost.)

Also, if you drive it back to the airport, there are tolls, so that is more cost.

Thanks..that is exactly what I needed to hear...I had many people telling me that I was doing it wrong. That I was going to be on the buses for a couple hours ...How late to the buses run? I don't want to get stuck in DTD ..

The stop at the Marketplace quits running about 11:30pmish.

The stop at Pleasure Island (closest to T-Rex) stops at 2am.

No way you'll get stranded at DTD.

Worst case scenario, you take a cab from DTD to the Poly. That should be less than $20. It's the cab fare back/forth to Seaworld that would be a killer.

so if I have this right...Go to TTC from Poly...get on the #50 Lynx bus and get off in the parking lot of Seaworld. Then find the bus to take me to DTD....the total cost would come to about 20 dollars for the five of us. Get off at Pleasure Island stop which is closest to T-rex..

After T-rex..find the Disney bus back to the Poly(no charge?). Does this sound right?

I believe the same bus, #50, will get you to DTD as well. I think it's on the same route...picks up at TTC, DTD, then to SW in the morning.
And yes, after dinner you can just walk over to the bus stop and hop on it back to the Polynesian. Those buses will be running for quite some time...probably well past midnight.

Yes, you have the morning correct.

In the afternoon when leaving SeaWorld, you also get on the #50. The stop for that is across the street from the stop you got off at SeaWorld.

Then there is one Lynx DTD stop which is near WestSide.

Then you walk over to T-Rex.

After leaving T-Rex, you can walk over to the DISNEY Pleasure Island bus stop and find the stop for the Poly. When a bus that has Poly on the sign on the front shows up, get on.

Here is a link to the Lynx #50 schedule and map.

So looking at the map, if you wanted to get to Sea World before opening, you would need to be at the TTC stop before 8:01 am. (Probably about a 15 minute walk from most anywhere at the Poly), then you would get off at the Sea Harbor Dr and Central Florida Pkwy Stop at approximately 8:38am. Then walk through Sea World's parking lot and go to the gates.

Since your reservation for T-Rex is at 7pm, then you would need to be back at the #50 stop (across the street from the original one) before 6:10 pm, then you would arrive at DTD Westside Transfer Center by 6:30 pm. Then you could have a leisurely 5 minute walk over to T-Rex and get to your dinner reservation in plenty of time.

After dinner, then you will have plenty of time to wander the shops at DTD, then get on whichever bus stop is closest to you when you are finished wandering. There are two. One at Pleasure Island, which is closest to T-Rex, then one at Marketplace which is closest to World of Disney store.
