Best places to eat with an infant?

This Fall I will be traveling alone with DS 6 and DD who will be around 7 months. I'd like to do character dining, but the majority of character meals are buffets, which isn't feasible in my situation. So far I have us potentially doing Garden Grill (not a huge fan), CRT, and 'Ohana. Am I forgetting any others?

Does your little one use a carrier? I lugged my daughter everywhere in the baby bijorn when I needed my hands free. Not ideal, but doable : )

I would also suggest a sling like character. You will not be able to bring your stroller into any of the TS places in the parks, and that may be a challenge. Also, there are some areas of the parks where you cannot bring in the stroller. (ie the land inside EPCOT). I brought dd when she was 7 months. It was me, dd, and a friend, and I wished I had a sling! She became super heavy quickly, and I had to hold her while eating in a few places because she was sleeping. Even when she was away, she hadn't mastered sitting in a highchair yet! This way you can eat at buffets, have your dd in a sling, and help out your ds.

I had a baby bjorn when my girls were little and we were doing the world frequently. My daughters are 18 months apart and my son is only four years older than the oldest, and VERY active. It gave me security, and a free hand. :thumbsup2

I have a wrap for her, but I'm not sure how much I will be able to use it due to back problems. I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back due to being hit by a car twice last year (NYC drivers :sad2:) so I'm planning my options around not having it just in case.

At Akershus Princess Breakfast, they bring the food to you as the princesses make their rounds, which would resolve your issue.

We took our then-7 month old last summer and we ate there, it was great!

If you have back problems I wouldn't use a Baby Bjorn (not enough back support) or a sling (too much pressure on one shoulder). Look into an Ergo or a Beco - they are a LOT better. I would use it mainly for situations where you need both hands free, but plan on using a stroller most of the time.

In your shoes, I'd probably ask DS which characters he wanted to eat with most and pick 1-2 buffets tops. Then stick with regular sitdown TS the rest of the time.

I totally forgot about that option. Can you tell I've only been brining DS? lol

I have this carrier. It's a more supportive form of the Moby, which means you can use it longer, so DD won't be too heavy for it when we go.

Hi! I am going in 3 days (YAY!) with my 10 month old crazy active little man! I have the Beco Gemini. I want to second the suggestion of MyTwoPrincesses... and check out a Beco (Gemini or Butterfly) and the Ergo. MUCH better on the back. I recently carried little man for a hour and a half for DD's gym "show class." Comfy. I also have a few friends that swear by the Ergo.
There are places online where you can rent them - if like me you live in an area where there are not a lot of places that carry slings/carriers.

Honestly I would figure out what character meal (buffet or not) your older child would absolutely LOVE and book that one and just make it work. Maybe a nice CM could help you go through the buffet/get a seat near the buffet if it would help. You could call the dining line and put notes in about the situation...maybe that could help too? I don't know from experience - just hoping for you!

I hope you have a magical trip and congrats on your new addition! (so exciting!)

DH, my parents and I are going in May and DD will be 5 months. We're not doing character meals this trip (would be kind of pointless) but we did get the Baby Bjorn. We'll try a character meal or two when we go again in December and she's 1. :goodvibes

Thanks! You know, everyone says I'm crazy for taking her so young, especially alone. I say you're never too young! Besides, this trip is for DS. I wasn't able to take him last year so by the time we go it will be 2 years and change since our last trip. Disney is for families! It's not like I'm taking her to Six Flags for a week lol. She can even go on most of the attractions.

Have fun with your little ones! Leaving in 3 days is so exiting. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep!
