Best places to eat with 5 year old boy!!

We are coming to Fort Wilderness Camp grounds at the end of August. We are on the dining plan and want to go to some good places for dinner and maybe a breakfast or 2. Any suggestions??? Fun for him and/or really good food. Any suggests would be helpful...

Can't go wrong with Chef Mickey's for little boys!

I'm partial to dinner, but a lot of people like the breakfast.

I agree, Chef Mickey's would be great! 'Ohanas for breakfast also has Mickey, Pluto, Lilo & Stitch. We love it!

Buffets are always fun because kids tend to be picky eaters so there are several options for them. There are also the characters that come by each table that keep them entertained.

More votes here for the character buffets! Lots of fun, lots of activity (often little parades through the restaurant, sometimes with noisemakers ), lots of good choices for finicky eaters. And GREAT opportunities for character meet & greets (and autographs and photos ) without standing in the lines at the parks.

Chef Mickeys, Ohanas's breakfast with Lilo & Stitch, Donald's Safari Breakfast at AK, and Crystal Palace are all awesome choices! We also liked 1900 Park Fare for dinner (yes, there are princesses there....but the stepsisters are great and boys feel right at home too! My DS, who's 13, had a great time there).

Sci-Fi is tons of fun for boys as well. Nothing like having your dinner in a car and watching movies on the big screen!

Well, I just asked my five year old boy for you to find out what his favorites are. He's been many times and considers himself a total expert. He knows the names of most restaurants and which park or resort they're in.

His top five....

T-Rex Cafe (heaven for five year old boys)
Ohana Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch (his favorite character)
Boma (actually loves the food here)
San Angel Inn (he's nuts for the volcano and the nighttime atmosphere)
Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre (cool cars to eat in AND old sci-fi monster clips)

Make ADR's at Crystal Palace as early in the morning as you can and take the boat to MK for early entry. You get awesome pictures with an almost empty park.

It's a Pooh and friends buffet and all I can say is breakfast lasagne (more dessert than actual lasagne) and Pooh Bear Puffs!

We actually made additional ressies for CP after we went there. Mostly because our son was 5 as well and MK seemed to be his favorite park.

I think alot of people hit the Bakery in MK for breakfast too.

I would head over to Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL for dinner too.

Another vote for Chef Mickey's! My boys are 8 & 13 & they both still love Chef Mickey's. Have done breakfast there a bunch of times & are trying dinner for the first time in August.

Does he watch playhouse disney? If so in Disney Studios we like Play and Dine at Hollywood and VIne for Breakfast. JOJO Goliath, Little Einsteins and Play House Disney song and dances. Food is buffet and it is good.

Crystal Palace with Pooh Tigger Eyore and Piglet, in MK any meal here is good.

Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary, we like all meals

Garden Grill for Dinner in Epcot The Land Pavilion Farmer Mickey, Chip and Dale. Characters are only there for dinner now.

I'm doing a trip with my DS4 in May and these are the ADR's we have that I tried to plan around what he would like.

Crystal Palace (D)
1900 Park Fare (BF and D)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (D)
Ohana (BF)
Tutto Italia (D)
Tony's Town Square (D)
Sci-Fi (L)
Mama Melrose's (Fantasmic! Dinner Package)

I've taken him to Hoop De Doo Review which he also loved but that's 2TS on the DDP which I never recommend doing.

However, if you do decide on HDD (or any other 2TS place), there are a couple of ways to get the best value out of the DDP if your plans also include visiting a character breakfast.

Be sure to pay out of pocket for the Adults at the character BF (but use the TS for the kids). Then on one of your normal TS dinners that have the typical $7.99 kids menu pay OOP for their meal but use the TS for the Adult meals. The result will be that everyone now has an extra TS that can be used on a 2TS meal and you got the best value while using the credits.

Good luck with the planning. We're going back in August too (for my DS5th Birthday).

Were there 2 years ago with 5yo DS, and again this past summer for his 6th bday, and he LOVED sci-fi the best, it was the only one all the kids insisted on returning to. We also hit a bunch of the character buffets - CP, Tusker house character breakfast (best character interaction), Ohana breakfast (THIS ONE WAS AMAZING FOOD!!!), CRT (we booked this one for DD, but he liked this one quite well, surprisingly enough - got a little plastic sword at the door) and we did hoop de doo revue last year. I thought DS would be too young for it, and really booked it for my older kids, but all the kids loved it, actually all of us did - it was a good time, and the food was decent too.
For snacks, you can't beat the main street bakery, he loves their cinnamon rolls, and the giant ice cream cookies, and also the sleepy hollow ice cream floats, and the chocolate dipped micky ear rice krispie treats, well, that list could go on and on forever.......

My kids always love the character dining as well. My son loves sci-fi and whispering canyon too. But for a quick service don't forget about Cosmic Rays in MK, it is a lot of fun for a quick service punch.
