Best places to Dine solo?

I've dined solo for that reason myself - I've traveled with people who are big seafood fans and I'm a no-seafood person, so I've split off to dine somewhere else. I've also gone to a different park than family or girlfriend, as they wanted to spend some time shopping and I'm not big on roaming stores - so I let them take the day to shop while I go do my thing, and we meet up at the end of the day - sometimes for dinner, sometimes after. It was those solo park days that made me really value and enjoy Disney on my own, so that's what prompted me to start taking full solo trips at least a few times a year.

It's amazing the people who are just solo for the moment-taking a break from the rest of the family. One time DH and I were at Biergarten-at that time they had large communal tables. There was a man dining solo at our table and we talked with him, "How's your day-what have you ridden?" etc. Right near the end of the meal, these two little girls came running up to him, obviously his girls, they'd just had "delicious" pizza, and periodically they stopped in mid-sentence, wrinkled their noses and complained about the "awful smell here". When they left, he turned to us and said "Now you know why I chose to eat alone. I wanted German food. Obviously, they didn't!"

I went with a freind of mine once who is a really picky eather - he just likes plain hamburgers, chicken tenders (no sauce), etc. Man, after that first trip where he had me at Backlot Express and such, the next time I was like, "I'm mobile ordering at Satu-li. You can go to Pizzafari if you want and we'll meet after!" 🤣

Why is it that the picky eater always gets the say of where to go? (Rhetorical question. But still.)

I guess becasue while he won't eat anything "weird" I will eat chicken strips. We can go to Chicken Guy - it's pretty good after all. But then he's like, "I don't need any sauce." Nooooo - get sauce and give it to me! They charge for extras, you know? 😁

I have dined solo in a variety of restaurants at WDW - Beaches and Cream , Ale and Compass, Cape May, Trattoria Al Forno, Sci Fi, Brown Derby, Sebastian, Garden Grill, Brown Derby, Biergarten, Chef de France. Those are just the Epcot/DHS ones.

I don’t think I would do the Hibachi one in Japan
How did you felt on Biergarten? Isnt it like Teppan Edo, where you will be seated with more people?

As Solo I dont do character meals or Biergarten, Teppan Edo, etc.

I did 1 Family Style (Ohana) and I feel like they bring way too much food for 1 person.

I have not been seated with other since the pandemic. I made an ADR reservation. You might be seated at a table very close to another table.

I actually did eat there solo a couple pre Pandemic and lucked out on having nice table mates.

I have dined solo at Yak & Yeti restaurant, Sci-fi Diner and The Plaza. I don't think anyone else in the restaurant cared that I was a solo diner. I wasn't on the trip alone, but I wanted to dine there when no one else did so made my own plans 😁 I am planning a runDisney solo trip for 8 nights (if I secure a 10k bib) so I will be dining solo the whole trip.

I just turned 60 and this attitude started hitting me around age 55. Let people think what they will. Heck you are in a happy place. Enjoy it! :tigger: pirate: :tigger:
Agree! And honestly, everyone is so wrapped up in their own situation I've never felt that I've stood out.
I have had a few servers, mostly women, say that I was living their dream... :hippie: Solo parks, dining, pools, no schedule squabbling... 😁 VERRRRRRY relaxing visits.
