Are there any special perks for staying at either BCV or BWV during Food and Wine? Any special events linked to the fest? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to make ressies there other than it being stumbling distance to these resorts. ;)

Actually, just had this happen to us, but ours was on a more positive note. Our salesperson was Tony Diehle and when I called to ask him some questions I found out he had been promoted to manager. It must have just happened b/c they said they were still in the process of reassigning his customers. We got reassigned right then since I was on the phone and our new sales contact seems just as nice.

But I agree it would have been nice to get some notification.

It is nice to be close to the WS but you can stumble to tne busses too! If the BW/BC is in your budget great but you can still enjoy the F&W from other resorts.

I love staying at the BCV during the F&W. You can just wander back and forth. Go to a tasting, walk back to the pool, go to a concert, etc.... Just great!

No other perks, but the location for that event can't be beat!

LOL, I think Ryanmilla stumbled into the wrong thread! BCV is the closest to Epcot with BWV nearby as well. I have to agree though, stumbling to a room and stumbling to a bus and then stumbling to your room is about a wash. Probably less likely to get lost if you take a bus! ;)

Don't know what happened there. :confused3 I was actually replying to "The wrong way to find out..." Don't know how I got in here. Sorry about that.

But thanks for the tips on where to stay for Food & Wine. :earboy2:

I don't know which is the "best" resort, but we'll be stumbling back to BWV. We'll probably walk back and stay away from the boats. If I stumble into a bush, I won't get wet.

I don't think either BCV or BWV offer any special events connected with the F&W Fest, but don't underestimate the convenience of statying there....not so much to be in "stumbling distance"( ;)-although God knows, that's nice!!), but just for the ability to go in and out at will, without having to decide bus or car or whatever. I just love to be able to stroll in & out of Epcot.

We're staying at BWV, but we're also going to MNSSHP,and I don't know how busses are from MK to BWV. We've never taken Disney buses for that route, and with the reports about crowded conditions, sharing with S/D, it may not be THAT convenient.

Food & Wine, eh? Here's how it will go if you don't stay at BW or BC:

First you'll wander around the World Showcase in an attempt to eat and drink every single item they have, next you'll stare beverage-in-hand at Illuminations and become somewhat disoriented, then you'll wobble through Future World, stagger around waiting for the bus, be embarrassingly over-friendly to everyone on the ride to your resort, trip getting off the bus and crawl on your bloody hands and knees back to your room.

...or maybe that's just me.

Anyway, try and stay at an Epcot resort.

For Food & Wine I'd stay at BCV, simply because it's so close that you can wander in and out at will. We did this last fall, and there were times that we'd just nip in through the International Gate next to BCV, grab a snack and a glass of wine at World Showcase, then lounge around at SAB. We also scheduled many mornings at other parks but most evenings (and PS at restaurants) in Epcot, so that we could stroll home after the fireworks while other people were still trudging toward the bus lines.

We discovered that in certain situations, a cab was well worth the $12 fare. We usually left the MK just fine because we weren't at closing, but the buses in the morning (this was two years ago, I understand things have changed) were crowded enough to make us cough up the cash. I'd think leaving MNSSHP at closing would be another time I'd consider a cab (catch it at the CR, the bellhop will call you one).

A few cabs aren't any more expensive than renting a car.

We were going to get a cab from the Poly to BWV about 6 months ago. There are cabs lined up in front of the resort. We asked 2 different cab drivers and they both told us it would be $15.00. We calculated with tip it would cost about $18.00. A economy rental car only costs about $25.00 for the day. We are cheap, so instead took the monorail to TTC and then to Epcot and walked back through International Gateway. This actually worked out better because we got to see Illuminations and get a snack in WS before returning to BWV. But in a pinch the cabs are very handy, expensive, but handy.

Forgot to answer the OP. The best resort to stay at for F&W is any of the Epcot resorts. The F&W is held in WS which is very very easy to get to from any of the Epcot resorts. We do as others have said, and will just run in for a show or a snack, it is all right there. It is wonderful.

If you're planning to go to F&W and you haven't made ressies yet, I would doubt highly that you're going to find availablility at BCV or BWV this late in the game.

At the 7 month mark, I tried for a studio at either. No dice. Alright, I'll splurge for a 1B. "Sorry, we have none available."

So, back home to OKW it is!

It really would've been nice to be so close, but hey, at least I get to go!

I don't care. I still say the whole buy-where-you-want-to-stay thing is overrated.

I disagree on certain points. If you want to get into certain resorts, at certain times--the home resort advantage continues to get very important as the years go on, and more DVC resorts are added to WDW. It is possible to get an Epcot /MK DVC resort for certain prime times of the year at less than 7 months. But the majority of times. it is not available for the length of time or dates of your trip, or size villa you wanted for the duration of your trip. There is always the wait list, but again for certain DVC resorts at certaim times of the year, the waitllist is a real gamble.

To answer the original question, for F&W, BCV also has wine flights at the Vineyard, if you have not had enough wine at the festival... ;) But they have that all the time.

Our October trips are specifically planned for the proximity to Epcot and I am flexible with dates. We stayed at BCV last October and will be at BWV this October. Booked right at the 7 month window and all that I could get for a room preference at BWV was a garden/pool view (studio). Did not check BCV this year... I would assume that at this point they are pretty filled up.
