Best Place to Sell Diamond Ring???

I am looking for advice on where to best sell a diamond ring. It is 1 carat total--it has 3 round stones with the center stone slightly larger than the others. I can't seem to find the certification on the ring.

It was purchased 11 years ago for $3000. I took it to a jeweler which offered me $400. I am not really comfortable selling it online (craigslist or ebay). Would I have better luck selling it to a jeweler or a pawn shop? I have never been in a pawn shop and am a little intimidated by the thought of entering one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would try to find a consignment jeweler. Realistically, styles have changed a lot in 11 years, so you may not get a lot for it, but $400 might be low. If the setting is gold and a thicker band, you might do better selling the gold for scrap and keeping the diamonds to reset into a pair of studs and a pendant

Just remember, jewelry has a really big retail markup (double or triple the cost depending on the piece) so they're not going to give you as much as they could buy a new ring for.

You're not going to get a lot from a jeweller, but you may want to try another jeweller in your area just to check the first price you were offered. Perhaps you can leverage a better price, now that you have a first offer.
Unless the diamonds in your ring are of exceptional value (huge size, exceptional cut, clarity, color), as another PP said, you may be better off selling the band as 'scrap' to a precious metals dealer and keeping the stones to reset later on.
