Hi All ~ Where is the best place to see WISHES without using a MK ticket? Thanks! Sandra

There are many places around the Seven Seas Lagoon. Some of the resort rooms have great views. I know whenever we stay at the GF, the room we stay in has an unbelievable view. I have never stayed at the Poly. but have heard there are great views from there as well! Oh and also the California Grill at the Contemporary is said to have a great view *if you have the right seats*. :thumbsup2

You can see it ok from the MK bus stops!! Oh cant u just tell im a tightwad lol!!
No really, my ADHD DD had a meltdown just as Wishes was starting and i had the option of taking her out or being thrown out!! Luckily we were standing right under the station so didnt have to battle crowds to get out. We saw the whole thing fine from the Pop Century bus stop.

Actually my friend's terrace is the best place to see Wishes. She lives behind MK in Windemere.

The ferry boat dock at the TTC. Not only do you get a good view, they also pipe in the music. You can park at the Polynesian and walk over.

Try the observation deck at the CR! Its on the same level as all the shops and restaurants. We did this in Jan. and it was wonderful. DD does not like a lot of loud sounds but this put us far enough away that she was able to enjoy it and tolerate the noise. It was beautiful. It's too bad they don't pipe in the actual music while on the deck.

Can you go to the beach at the Poly to watch even if you are not staying there?

You can go to any WDW resort at any time.
"Pool-hopping" is a no-no, BUT:

You can stroll the sidewalks, eat at the restaurants, sit on the beach, sit in the lobby, take the boat transporation, take the bus transporation, take the monorail transporation, rent a boat, rent a bike, and shop the gift shops.

Its one of the things we do if we are not in a theme-park.

You can even park you car (as long as you are doing something AT the resort).

Robo is correct on all accounts but realize some of the guests at some of the resorts may not appreciate you being there if you're not a guest at that resort.

Click here and see my post (#82) on this thread, its trigger, and the response to it for an example of this attitude.

And there are people standing in QUEUES at the parks that wish nobody else was THERE as well.

So what another guest may or may not "appreciate" rates a big "SO WHAT" from me.

I've worked in retail.
You learn quickly that LOOKS can't tell you very much about whom you're dealing.

I agree the beach at the Poly. After wishes stay and watch the water parade.

having a nice dinner at CA Grille. Then, go out on the balcony area and watch them from there. Music is piped in! Another idea would be the beach at the Polynesian.

We'll be on the beach at the Poly for one night to see Wishes before DH joins us, we transfer to WL and we get our park passes. And we will not be 'borrowing' anyone's patio furniture, standing in front of them (I'm 5'1" so I suppose even if I did stand it wouldn't block anyone's view!) or staying if the kids are being obnoxious. But I will be at WDW for 3 days with two little ones and no park passes before DH gets back from a conference in Miami. So we will be resort hopping! Not pool hopping but visiting the resorts that I want to see to determine where our next trip might take us! And since we are expecting #3 we will be looking at the deluxes. So, sorry to offend those that we might disturb at the Poly, AKL or the Boardwalk but we are potential guests for the next trip!

That is why it is allowed by Disney - everyone who sees the beauty of a different resort is a potential future customer. I will say that encountering attitude from current guests about our visits (which I assure you will be nothing but respectful) will make me question wanting to stay there in the future with people with attitude!

Thanks all! Sounds like we will venture to the POLY and visit the resort, have a nice meal, shop and head to the beach for WISHES! Will the beach area be busy? Thanks! Sandra

Its a BIG beach.
So I wouldn't worry about any CROWDS.

The best place to view is where you can see the CASTLE.

Just walk along the Poly's beach-front sidewalk looking towards MK.
Keep going until the castle comes into full view (no trees or other obstructions).

There are a few beach chairs on the sand... or you can just stand and watch.
Wishes only lasts 12.5 minutes.
(And it will start ON TIME.)

We have ADR's at Kona's for 6:20. I had heard that the beach at Poly was a great place to see Wishes. My only concern is the timing of our ADR. Will we be done dinner too early? I have 2 DS's (ages 4 & 6) and I don't want them to get "unruley" and annoy the other guests while we are waiting.

The upper lobby of the Poly is pretty much a "ZOO" of people in the evenings.

Ohana is SO BUSY... and the groups waiting are all in the newly-expanded "bar area" (covers much of that section of the lobby).
There is a singer/guitarist who performs (amplified) so the area is far from "quiet".

If you want, you could go OUTSIDE and stroll long the beach (its nice, with gas-torches and such), sit in beach chairs or a beach swing and wait.

If you are VERY EARLY... board the Resort Monorail and ride "around the loop" (it should take about 20 minutes, round-trip, but plan on 30 minutes, just in case).

Getting out, looking around at one of the other resorts for a few minutes, getting on another monorail bact to the Poly can be fun (and eat time) as well.

Another possiblity is to go to the Poly's Game Room Arcade and let the kids "wiggle joy-sticks" for awhile.
