I am planning to propose to my girlfriend this coming x-mas we will be there from Dec 6th -11th. Me and my family go every other year since I was 6 (now 29). I want this to be special with not to many people around(I don't like when people propose in front of large groups it puts to much presure on the lady) so if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. :mickeyjum :mickeyjum

I proposed to my wife next to Cinderella's Castle. It was next to the Wishing Well at night. It was in December of '03. Crowds were light and another couple actually stopped afterwards and took a photo of us together. It was a perfect quiet spot.

Good Luck!

You may want to ask this question in the Weddings/ Honeymoons sections. Poeple always have great suggestions over there.

Let's see... you don't want other people to be around... Disney staff is very helpful in making your perfect proposal happen. You could come back to your room one night and have it decorated w/ rose petals, etc. and propose there. While everyone is watching Illuminations, you two could stroll off and wander around one of the countries, and you could pop the question there. DF and I could not find a good viewing spot for Illuminations last year, so we wandered around the UK gardens, very romantic. You could get a late ADR for a nice restaurant like Artist Point, and the waiter could bring out the ring w/ dessert and a rose. Just some suggestions.

By the way, December is such a wonderful time to get engaged. I got engaged Dec. 10 of last year, and it made the holiday season that much better :lovestruc Best of luck to you!

If you want to do it at the MK, then consider the other side of the castle on the path between the Castle and TomorrowLand. I have also heard on the beach at the GF or at the Poly are romantic as is the top of the Contemporary. Wherever you do it, let us know so we can make plans when the time is right. :thumbsup2

WHere are you staying? Each resort (well, I'm not sure about the values) has it's own romantic areas and activities. At the Boardwalk you could walk the loop around to see EPCOT's Illuminations at night and ask her on the bridge.

Wilderness Lodge has the gieser or you could ask about becoming the "flag family" and asking her on the rooftop of the Lodge... what a view!!!

I think there are lots of beautiful spots in Epcot! Especially since you will be there when the Christmas decorations will be up and all the holiday shows happening.........be among the last people to exit Epcot and pop the question there somewhere (there are just TOO many good places!).

I'd give you some ideas ... but since you've been there so many times ... and you'll be there with your lady ... just have the ring ready ... find a time/place in a park or outside at the resort ... and go with your gut feeling.

Best of luck on the proposal. May you have a lifetime of magical moments.

Personally I would rather be proposed to at a certain location that is permanent rather than a room. That way everytime you come back together you can go by the place where you proposed and share your memories. My favorite proposal places would be (and I SO agree with you on the not doing it in front of a lot of people):

1. On the beach during the Electrical light parade or Wishes at the Poly or GF (although I think the Poly is more romantic with it's torch lit walkways and Hawaiian music playing in the background).

2. Make sure you are in a country furthest away from the entrance at Epcot during Illuminations. Then after Illuminations is over take a long time strolling through the park and propose by the fountains near the entrance of WS (or in any of the countries you feel is the most romantic) that "dance" to the music. It's usually quite cleared out and the fountain and music is still going.

3. A cute thing I saw done once at WDW was at Splash Mountain. Apparently a guy and his girlfriend and her family went on SM. The guy was wearing a button up shirt with just a few buttons done. On the way up the last drop he unbuttoned his shirt (he was wearing a plain T-shirt underneath with "Will you marry me?" written on it) and on the way down he opened up his shirt and closed it at the bottom. When they got off the ride he joked about wanting to see the picture and she about died when she saw the picture. She said yes and they bought the picture. It was very cute.

You have tons of options! All of the deluxe and moderate resorts are very romantic as are many of the countries around WS. Good luck!!

(And will someone PLEASE get my boyfriend directed to this thread! ;) :teeth: )

My DF proposed to me this past May at PO Riverside. We had gone on a carriage ride and he was planning to do it there, but everytime he brought up something about the relationship he could tell I would get uncomfortable because the driver could over hear. So we took a nice, long walk back to our room and we walked into the courtyard outside of our room where there was a huge, gorgeous fountain all lit up. I sat down on it just to enjoy the view and he proposed right there - and we were the only ones around. Totally romantic!

  Congratulations!!  That sounds perfect. I would have been uncomfortable with the driver listening in too.

there are lots of places and ways to go about popping the question. My advice is to do it day#1 that way it's done and you are now having a "we're engaged" vacation.
GOAL is a local company that does engagements at WDW and they can do just about anything (within reason) you can read about them here

Thanks! It was perfect... for me! The most important thing to remember is what your DGF likes - is she a private person, or loves to be the center of attention? Then go with that... you have to make her comfortable so she'll be completely excited and happy and ready to say YES!!! :goodvibes

what about at the yacht club gazebo? or on a beach hammock at the polynesian with the fireworks in the distance? next to the castle near the wishing well? during a special dinner? is this her first trip or do you have a special spot, ride, resort? go with your gut & best wishes!

When we were there last year we were eating dinner in Cinderella's castle and right before Wishes started outside the windows a guy proposed to his gf. I was very quietly done and no one really knew until it was over. It still make me tear up to think about it! :)

What about renting the Breathless for an Illuminations cruise?

Never been there, but I just read today in a local magazine here ("Best Places in Orlando"), that the 2nd most popular place to propose at is Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian Resort.

Also, I was just looking at another thread here {Suggestions for Anniversary(?)} & it was also recommended as a very romantic place to go to.

All of the other posters had great suggestions, also, I thought.

For romance, I'd choose the Wedding Pavillion at the GF. You can walk inside the chapel and when you get up front to the alter there is a picture window w/ Cinderellas Castle in the background. It has to be one of the most romantic spots at WDW and it was empty when we were there. You might arrange to have a CM take a picture right after you propose. I'd finish up with an ADR at Victoria and Albert's for dinner. That would certainly be a very special day.
