What is the best place you have used to print digital pictures????
Thanks!

mpix=#1 for me,
although i've used adorama for large prints and have them come out ok and snapfish for small 5x7 or less and they look fine. shutterfly i have used for books and liked them. ezprints i have used for gifts and they were fine but never prints...
only one i thought were absolutely terrible were walgreens, target and walmart but those might vary by location.

I use MPIX for all my important stuff, their quality simply can't be beat, plus I love the fact that for an extra five dollars I can have my pics overnighted if I need them in a hurry

I occassionaly use my local walmart if I need pics right away, they actually do a really good job,,

Depends on what I need.

ADORAMA had 4x6s at 8 cents last week, that is the best price.

My local Costco does a great job and usually has them ready for pickup in under an hour.

ELCOCOLOR has 20x30 inch prints for $9.99

mpix has a great variety of papers.

OMG! Thanks for all of the info! I dont know any of these companies, but I'm checking it out now! Love Disboard friends!

another fan of mpix here!!!! I was definitely surprised to see how good my 8x10's came out.

Mpix quality really can't be beat from what I have seen. Their service is quite quick as well. I won't order from anyone else unless I need the quick turnaround of a Walmart or CVS. From what I have seen, those are nowhere near the quality of mpix, but they aren't all that bad if you want your pics in an hour or so.

I am a big fan of Sam's Club pics. When you put them in the kiosk at the store you can turn off all adjustments. They also use Fuji Crystal Archive at my stork which I will pick everytime over Kodak that most places use. I also like Mpix and will use them. I plan to order a 20X30 from both Sam's and ElcoColor to see which turns out best and I will use them from now on for my large pics. I know my sam's uses an Epson 7800 which I REALLY like as a printer.

I've had very good luck with a local photo store. Years ago I took my film to be developed there, and they have made the transition to digital photography quite nicely. No shipping and handling fees either. You might poke about town for one.

Thanks for the tip on MPIX....i ordered on Thursday night and got my pictures this morning.....

All I can say is WOW! The best pictures ever! ;)

Thanks again!:worship:

What type of paper and finishes and all do you get from mpix? I like glossy prints and it appears that the cheaper ones are matte? Advice?

I have ordered prints from Mpix and they do a great job. Still, if you are really serious about it the best place to get prints is at home. It is not easier than ordering them, and it sure is not less costly, but for the absolute best quality there is no comparison.

Here is some insight into what it takes:

Be ready to buy a good printer, good paper, OEM ink, and be ready to spend a lot of time and $$$ to get the best quality! Mpix starts sounding pretty good at this point! ;)

just one of the many reasons I prefer to let MPIX do my printing, I prefer to spend my time behind the camera,

plus although I agree that printing at home gives you more control over the final product,

I respectfully disagree that printing at home gives you absolute best quality ,,ok let me elaborate...maybe for you it does, but the average person,, isn't going to spend the time nor money, to be able to produce better quality than a professional lab, with highly trained lab techs, high end equipment and years of experience..

The world is surely coming to an end, I agree with Mickey88! ;)

Ok, it has happened before (maybe once) but yes, I agree that very few photographers are going to spend the time and $$$ it takes to get superb results from home printing.

I consider the print to be the final result in the photographic chain and as such it needs to be interpreted just as the exposure and post-processing does. Because of this I feel I need control of the printing process too.

Good inkjet printers still have a wider gamut than photo printers, and a much wider choice of papers as well. The quality *can be* better but as we both agree, it ain't easy or cheap!
And for the really large prints I use Mpix too, they do a good job.

wow between this and the trashing I took from Groucho, a few weeks ago I suddenly feel like some evil entity, that has nothing to offer on this board, looks like it's time to start spending more time on the other photography boards that I belong to :sad2:

C'mon Mick, I meant it all in good humor and even added a smiley for good measure! I even agreed with you. I am sorry if you took it the wrong way.
