Best place to live in Central Florida

Thanks so much to everyone who replied! We took a look at Winter Park today and it was beautiful but very expensive! Also pretty far from my job....(I teach in Kissimmee) Also visited Waterford lakes area....Love it there as well.

I LOVE Hunter's Creek, but the HOA thing scares my husband away....I told him that if we ever moved back to Florida that he could choose the house....now I am starting to get a bit worried! HA!

How about old Oveido....anyone familiar with that area? Is there any land out by Waterford Lakes?

I grew up in Winter Park....years ago (1967-1977)....I loved it there, but we moved when I was 11. We were so close to the MK!!!! Good luck on your move and house hunt:goodvibes

oh...one more thing. You said you loved the Waterford Lakes area.

Yeah, it's nice...almost moved there ourselves but the traffic there is AWFUL...esp. at rush hour. The 408/417 construction may help a little but it's once you're off the 408 that's the bad part. And working your way thru the developments themselves with thousands of others? it was awful!

I agree with you. We were at Waterford Lakes Village on Saturday and it was AWFUL! I really wanted Chick Fil A, but the line was horrendous...so we left...Tried to grab something at ULTA...I could barely get in to the store. So we left...again....Went to Winter Garden Village and there were no people there....Got what I needed and enjoyed my day!

What are the names of the new Middle and High School?

LOVEBWVVBR- We are in Crystal Lakes right off of Minton and Eber. Our house should be done in about two weeks so we are super excited! I bet it is great living right on the water. ;-)

Vicki_c We are loving it so far thanks! Will love it more once we get moved in and settled! We are about 10 min. From Viera. :-)

jwfla422- Enjoy your visit next month! We almost bought a new home over in Viera. Good thing we didn't, that area flooded really bad during the storm a few weeks ago. I dash over there quite a bit to go to Kirklands, it is my guilty little pleasure! :rotfl:

subbing so I can live vicariously through you all as we head into yet another frigid Northeast winter. Lord help me!

Awesome! Enjoy your new home. It sounds fantastic!

We actually live on the 100 block, so a block from the beach. It is awesome:banana:

Not exactly sure. The new middle school will house an elementary school, too, to ease the crowding at Whispering Oak (where we have two enrolled). The new school is further up Avalon (545) across from Johns Lake Pointe development (recently taken over by Meritage to finish out what had been an abandoned new development).

The new high school, from what I'd heard from someone involved with zoning in Winter Garden, was going to be built near Summerport (off 535). But, talking w/our youngest's kindergarten teacher last night who lives over there, said that while they started the groundbreaking, the sign has been taken down and there's apparently concern from some residents in Windermere about traffic, lights, etc. so now apparently the new high school might be moved just a bit down the road (and, of course, delaying things even more)

I have heard good things about Winter Park- I have a student that used to live there and looooooved it.

Winter Park is beautiful! We love going there. That is about the only other place I'd ever want to live other than Brevard County.

We just built a house in Viera and moved in August, just in time for school!! We used to live in baldwin park, right next to Winter Park. We miss all the good restaurants on Park Ave!!

I'm curious. What about the Davenport/Four Corners area? Seems close to I4? What are those communities like?

I'd be leary if I was looking to move a family there. A lot of vacation homes, schools aren't as good, etc.

I always thought the neighborhoods off of 417 near John Young parkway looked really nice. There is another exit in there, but I forget it's name. But if you travel from 528 towards Disney on 417, you will see these neighborhoods.
I don't agree. Some of the neighborhoods are looking like they are going downhill. Perhaps victims of foreclosures?

Brevard County, of course;) We still technically count as Central FL. We live on the beachside and our schools are awesome! We have lots of established neighborhoods, etc. I wouldn't live anywhere else:cheer2:

I agree. If I have to live in Florida, this is where I want to be! :dance3:

We absolutely love your area. Are you building in Viera? I would just love to move from South FL to Viera (like a whole different world)!!

We're visiting the area next month, can't wait.:goodvibes

I'm not that crazy about Viera. It can be really hit or miss. I noticed that when we were looking at houses. I do like shopping there however. :thumbsup2

Another Diser here trying to move to the Orlando area in May! I'm looking in the Hunter's Creek area or Windermere area. We will be renting though. Good Luck to you!

Personally, I'd be looking at Dr. Phillips/Windermere/Winter Garden areas. There's alot of new development along that Windermere/Winter Garden boundary (mostly along 535 or in the New Independence area off Reams Rd) and good schools in that area, if that's of concern. Plus, it's really close to Disney and a good chance of even seeing fireworks from your yard (like we do :) )

Thanks to everyone who replied!

We took a look at Clermont and I absolutely LOVE it....country enough for the husband with shopping close by! I will definitely be looking at those homes on Anderson rd. Brevard county sounds great as well....LOVE the beach! I will give everyone an update soon!

Oh and for those of you that live in Clermont...any good churches out there? Not traditional..looking or more of a 'young' church with a band, etc....(I know...so picky, right!?)

Real Life Christian Church, from what described, you'll love it. Located right on Clermont on Steve's Road, off of route 27. Right across from the Clermont Commons shopping center.

Fantastic bible based sermons that apply to everyday life & an awesome worship band. You can listen/watch sermons online.

We also lived in Ocala and Kissimmee(for 6 months each) before we settled here. I love this area, been here 5 years & wouldn't want to live anywhere else in Florida.
