A few weeks about (May 2010) we went to Disney and celebrated my daughter's 8th birthday. We arranged for the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and arranged for my DD to get a birthday cake. The cake was lovely, but we didn't eat it all (it was big and after all that food, who could eat another bite) so had to rent a locker so that I did not have to lug it around Epcot, to then have my other DD step on it while waiting for the bus home. I had put in next to a pole and a railing so that it was out of the way, but somehow the little bugger managed to step right in the middle of the box and smash it to mush.
Oh course my first DD was hysterical and I promised to replace it. The next morning we went to breakfast at the Grand Floridian and 1900 Park Fare and asked about a cupcake as I saw other birthday kids with them. They sang her happy birthday, brought over the cupcake, and all was well with the world. There was no charge for the cupcake, which is probably all we needed for the day before.
So, with that said, I would like to arrange a birthday breakfast for my DD, the cake smasher, when we go in December. I would really like to just get her a cupcake as that really seems that it works well in the long run.
Do different resorts or restaurants do it differently?
We also might bring my grandmother who will have just turned 90 in November so there would be another celebration.
Thanks, Melissa
