I would like to buy my daughter earrings for graduation in May, but I’m thinking that buying them now might be cheaper. Can anyone recommend a place that would have a good deal for diamonds? I want nice quality but I don’t want to break the bank.

Edited, since this keeps on getting bumped:

I bought my daughter lab grown diamonds from here:
https://www.sohadiamondco.com/

She loves that they are lab grown v/s natural (no possibility of them being blood diamonds) and wears them all the time.

I would recommend you visit a secondhand shop. We have one in town here, and one in the last town I lived in that focused on jewelry, much of it from estates. You will find some unusual or one-of-a-kind pieces this way. They really know their stuff, too--none of this crappy jewelry. I'm not so into jewelry myself, but my sister is, and SHE knows her stuff, and she loves to visit these places and get things you simply couldn't duplicate without spending a fortune.

If they don't have what you're looking for, you can tell them what you'd like, and they can call you if something comes in. Their inventory changes all the time.

What I did for my oldest, when she graduated HS, was I got her a special necklace. She loves to travel all over the world, and I knew she wouldn't be back to New Hampshire much once she left for college. Her necklace had a nice chunk of green flourite--a (not very precious) stone that's only found in New Hampshire. I told her, no matter where you go, I want you to have a little piece of "home" with you. When we moved a few years later, I got a similar necklace for her younger sister.

I bought cz studs from Nordstrom in a 'reasonable' size and I get compliments every time I wear them, even from my sister. Just saying. You can give her the money you would have spent to use for future travel/purchases. And it doesn't matter if you lose them. Another viewpoint.

If you're set on diamonds, compare prices here as a start https://www.bluenile.com/jewelry/earrings/all-earrings?oid_list=49975 (Blue Nile)

Blue Nile. They sell great quality jewelry (especially diamonds) at fair prices.

Grand Jewelers, they are in st thomas but will do a zoom or facetime with you. I'e been using them for 25 years, they are the most honest, ethical jewelers I know. Jay is one of the owners. I wouldn't buy diamonds anywhere else

We go to a local family owned jeweler that is pretty well established. I would ask friends/family about their recommendations on a local jeweler and stop by to see what they can offer you with your budget.

My daughter’s now X-husband bought her engagement ring online from Blue Nike and I was shocked how stunning it was. I was surprised anyone bought diamonds online but wow. He turned out to be a total liar and cheater but the 2 ct simple solitaire is breathtaking. (Unfortunately hidden away now as it upsets her).

Yes I would buy my daughter a Blue Nile diamond.

I used to work at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as a diamond grader. Blue Nile was one of our biggest clients. They do a great job choosing high quality diamonds.

When my husband lost his wedding ring after 18 years, we bought the replacement platinum and diamond band from them and it's gorgeous. I've also bought several other pieces of jewelry from them.

Hi DLgal: Sounds like a really interesting place to have worked for...

Seems like diamond or diamond-style CZ studs work as good gifts for either a young woman or young man these days.

If you are into lab created diamonds (I totally am) the best prices I’ve found are on www.vrai.com

These are not diamond substitutes, but actual diamonds created in a lab instead of mined from the earth. Happy shopping!

Check out Ihatestevensinger.com It's a jewelry shop in Philly that has an online presence. They advertise on Sirus/XM. I know it's a silly name but I have used them a few times and have been very happy with the price, quality etc. They also have a 100 day full money back return policy and a Lifetime Upgrade where they give you what you paid originally if you want to trade up.

Costco. Excellent diamonds, great paperwork if needed for insurance, varied price ranges, one of a kinds and many designs. Easy transactions in store or online. Yes... I’ve ordered diamonds online. They use tracked fed x and have had no issues. No one knows what’s in the packages as they are in Non obvious packaging.
their return policy is great and easy. Best of all their Buying power can’t be beat. I’ve had several pieces appraised. Each one more than double the cost. My d/earrings( and I’d Only buy with screw backs) are perfection!
good luck.

Hi; I looked; I see they have good studs there. Chunky studs can make good gifts for young guys, too, as well as girls. Bit of an unusual website name there...
