Im sorry if I havent researched enough since Im sure its been asked before but what is the best place to book BC through? VRBo, vacationrentals? I think we have done our research and seems like a better choice for our party of 4 adults and 2 kids driving unless there is something we are missing.

thanks in advance.

There isn't a "best place" as you have to shop around. The easiest place to start is ebay, where you can see completed listings and get a feel for the market. There are more suggested places in the weloooooove bonnet creek thread.

It all depends on what you are looking for. You will find owners that charge $15-$20/1,000 points, other owners are realistic and charge $7/1,000 points, eBay has listing, Vacation Strategy, Vacation Upgrades, and the like are similar in what they charge.

Best Price: Platinum VIP Owner, during Value season, that can book or rebook inside 60-days. There is some risk, although minor.
Most Sense of Relief: Vacation Strategy/Upgrades. They charge about $7/1,000 points and are easy to work with.
Research: TUG, eBay, Redweek, VRBO. You can sometimes find great deals there. That is what I do.

Vacation Strategy is always my 1st choice . . .

they have the *Best* cancellation policy of all the *Timeshare Rental Brokers*

I am a bit more at ease when having a *Cancellation Option* based on the fact

that *sometimes life can get in the way of fun* i.e. new job ~ work schedule change etc

Vacation Upgrade is my 2nd and Farrells 3rd and ebay for last minute or 99%

sure dates are absolute and firm or dates are not available via V/S ~ V/U ~ etc

Thanks for the info everyone. I checked with redweek and vacation strategy/upgrades and they were about $200-300 more than vrbo. Im wandering if I should look into the point buying option for bonnet or even DVC.

Do you mean actually purchasing a timeshare deed? If so, I recommend doing a ton more research. When you think you are done, do twice as much.

If you are talking about using someone else's points for a reservation, that is exactly what you are already doing with VS, VU, Redweek, VRBO. All of those people are using timeshare points to rent you a room on their ownership. You are paying them a rental fee to use their points.

I have never had luck with VS or VU. The prices were always way beyond my budget. I had the most success with REDWEEK and TUG. There are some good deals on Ebay also. Sometimes SKYAUCTION has good deals also, but I am not sure how the bidding process works. And there is always some fine print for fees and such. But still it can be a GOOD DEAL depending on the time of year.

I've always used Vacation Upgrades. Love Ken and Denise and trust them completely, which is key for me with this type of vacation rental.

In the upcoming months owners will no longer be allowed to do the cancel/rebook thing. So prices overall will go up on rentals. I would book something soon before the price increases.

It is possible the book/rebook goes away, but then they just begin to work together. Owner 1 books a 2BR unit for Owner 2. Owner 1 cancels (and can't rebook), room goes into inventory, and Owner 2 then books it for their client. The megarenters will find a loophole in the system. I think the big change for the book/rebook is that the current system Wyndham uses was double-crediting points on cancellations. Once it rolls out and they are able to manipulate it, it will be fine.

You can't guarantee that Owner 2 is first in line. Risky; most landlords won't do this unless they write their contracts in a way that allows non-performance on the owner's part.

But, that's okay. Before the brokers/mega-renters turned their attention to Bonnet Creek, Vistana, Silver Lake, and Windsor Hills were all the rage. If Bonnet rental prices rise significantly, the renting public will find another new hotness.

If they are PlatVIP owners inside 60-days, they book the room for 50% of the points AND if there is inventory of an upgraded room, they get that too.

In the end, there will be a way for the PlatVIP owners to continue what they are doing. They will be able to test and find the method in a few days if Wyndham does make a change to stop the book/rebook.

What happens when "owner 2 " goes in to book it after "owner 1" cancels ?'
Do they get a discount ?
The problem is that the unit might not be there. There will very soon be an automatic upgrade waitlist. So, if there is any other eligible VIP owner with a 1BR booked who asked for an automatic upgrade, they get it before Owner 2. The only way Owner 2 could get it "cheaply" is if they also had a 1BR booked, and had asked for an automatic upgrade. But, again---there is no way to make sure that Owner 2 will be first in line, so someone else could get it instead, resulting in a complete loss of the rental unit.

VIP owners can still reliably cancel-rebook the smallest units (in WBC's case, Standard 1BRs) because there is nothing to upgrade from. But, that's it. And, if Wyndham down the road institutes a regular waitlist (and they might) rather than an upgrade waitlist, even this ability will go away.

In the end, there will be a way for the PlatVIP owners to continue what they are doing.
I'm not so sure about that. Most of the mega-renters/brokers on TUG are pretty sure that the upgrade waitlist has killed cancel-rebook for all but the smallest units at a particular resort, and cancel-rebook-upgrade is almost certainly gone for high-demand resorts/times. And, most of them understand that this was inevitable once the Trust learned what people were doing. The VIP upgrades/discounts were only intended for the leftovers, not high-demand time/resorts.

Most discussion has been here:

There's a lot of other stuff going on in that thread, but you'll get the idea.

I think in Bonnet's case, there might still be some leftovers. Now, there are a bunch of people who speculatively book things hoping to cancel-rebook-upgrade later. Some of that will go away, reducing early booking pressure on the resort in lower-demand times.

If you know for sure when you are going I say go the Ebay route. I am currently booked for a 2 Bedroom Deluxe and am paying 87.50/night. I have only ever stayed once before and used Ebay for that as well. It was a busier season and I paid $100/night for a 3 bedroom deluxe.

You can get those rates...believe me, I did. That is how I found WBC. In the Value season when there is inventory, PlatVIP owners can get the best of deals. There is a 4BR Pres available May 13-May 20 for $700. Yes, 4BR Pres for $100/nt. During Peak season, those rooms are not going to be available when inventory is low. But when inventory is high, insane deals are available.
