Where is the best place to purchase affordable cosutmes (e.g., dresses) for my 8 year old daughter. Does the local Disney store have these? Anywhere online that I can get something fairly quickly?

Are they expensive at WDW?

Where/When do you recommend wearing these dresses?

Our Disney Store only has costumes at Halloween. However, you can get costumes at Wal Mart, usually. Check on e-bay or at consignment shops. And yes, costumes are extremely expensive at WDW (like around $75! And this doesn't include shoes, crowns, or wands). Also, Disney Shopping still has a few costumes left over from Halloween and have them slightly discounted. Good luck! princess:

I found a lot of costume sites on the internet. Type in disney or princess costumes in the search bar and you should find a lot of sites. Many of the costume sights have discounted costumes and multiple shipping options. Buycostumes was a great site for me. Good luck and have a great trip.
Disney in 2 weeks!!!

Target and Walmart both have nice dresses. They aren't as fancy as the ones from Disney, but they only cost about $20 each.

Thank you!!!!

I thought the biggest headache was deciding where to stay but it doesn't end there. LOL!

Got the dinner reservations (barely)! Now looking for a costume.

Went to the Disney store today in Salem, NH. NOTHING but Pirates of the Carribean. My daughter is really leaning towards a "Belle" dress costume. We will have to check out Walmart and Target!!! Are the costumes mainly located in the Florida stores?

You should call your nearest Disney Store and ask because they didn't have the leftover costumes out when I went either. I had to ask and they brought them out. Very nice costumes and they were only $19.99. Also, because I told the lady I was taking my daughter to WDW, she pulled out beautiful velvet long bell sleeve dresses that weren't going to start selling until Dec 1st. There were colors to match each princess. You may want to ask about these two, they were only $19.99 also. I got one costume for the Royal table for DD (8) and the velvet dress for the Norway Princess lunch for her. :cloud9:

I just got the deluxe Disney Store Cinderella costume (brand new with tags) for $19.99 plus 4.50 shipping. They have all princess costumes, new or used from ebay

I just re-read your original post and realized your daughter is 8. The dresses I found at Walmart and Target were smaller sizes found in the toy department. I'm not sure you'll find dresses to fit your daughter there. But, ebay has all different sizes and prices, so check that out.

Thanks everyone!!!

My DW actually found a dress that she like on DisneyShopping.com
It also helped when someone else decided they wanted to pitch in as part of an early Christmas gift. My DD is going to be so excited princess:

Dress we ordered!

Now I just hope it will be delivered ON TIME before 12/20!!! :worried:

I posted a picture of the dress that my daughter will be wearing at Disney that my older daughter got for her for christmas. My wife was almost in tears when she saw her. The dress is really beautiful.
