Best Place for Lunch MGM

Sci-Fi for lunch. Have heard the dinner choices can be borderline nasty, but the burgers, onion rings and milkshakes for lunck are good and the atmosphere is great and a lot of fun. We ate there two years ago and now it is a must-do for the family.

Problem is, everytime we try a new restaurant, it becomes a "must do" for us so we are having to take longer vacations just to eat at all of the places we like!

We did not like the food at Sci-Fi. It was not that good and it was expensive (9.50 for burger and fries). The cars are cool but the ABC Commissary has way better food for a lot less money. If your going for atmosphere though Sci-Fi or 50's is great.

For counter service, my kids love Pizza Planet. We have to eat there every trip. This year I had made a reservation for lunch at the Sci-Fi, which ended up being closed when we got there. I thought it was going to be a special treat (we've eaten there before-fun), but the kids were all happy that we got to go to Pizza Planet instead. When we passed by Backlot Express near Indiana Jones, we noted that we should eat lunch there sometime. It looked like a good menu.

Is Pizza Planet like the one in the movie? I mean, does it look the same inside?

Our favorite CS at MGM is Backlot Express. I absolutely love their turkey with roasted red peppers! We make it a point to eat there every visit. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed the ABC Commissary. They had the most unusual food and it was good. I had an oriental noodle dish that had lots of tender crisp veggies in it. Hubby had curry chicken over rice. They had the usual fare for my 2 sons...cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets, etc. They also had some tasty looking desserts although we didn't sample any of them.

Absolutely, without a doubt, Sci Fi! The food is awesome, the theme is awesome, the clips are great. If you have children, they'll love having their meals in the cars! The food is delicious! (I suggest you try the bbq chicken sandwich, yum!)

Definitley Prime Time!!! We had a large group and had more laughs in that hour. We had kids with us and got a laugh out of dad getting yelled at from the waitresses. I thought I would be a smart alleck and put my elbows on the table because I didn't see any waitresses around. But unfortunatly there was one across the room watching the kids to make sure they ate there vegetables. Well from that point on the we were all laughing. My kids even got taken to new families! Our waitress came out and told us the whole kitchen was talking about our group. Just remember to eat your vegetables!!!LOL :teeth:

We love lunch at the Brown Derby. I guess you could call it casual. The food and service are wonderful and it's a great place to relax and get out of the hustle bustle and heat of the park.

Plus - they have grapefruit cake for dessert. What more can you ask for?

I personally haven't found one yet.

I agree. MGM is by far the worst park for food. Usually we'll skip lunch there and just head back to the resort for lunch )or grab a turkey leg.

I love the Sci-Fi Dinner Theatre. The food is pretty standard but the atmosphere more than makes up for it IMO.

My boys 2 and 4 loved Pizza Planet. They could have stayed there all day. And DS2 didn't even need to put money in the games. I thought the pizza was horrible, but they loved it.

Another vote for Sci-Fi! We love the silly movie clips and general atmosphere and the burgers are good. By the way, if you go in the evening and it doesn't show a burger on the menu, you can still ask for it from the lunch menu.

Brown Derby!!! Great meal, but p-p-p-pricey :-(

but read the menu...oh, my taste buds, see the menu at allearsnet

We ate at Hollywood & Vine last time...average WDW fare honestly

Commissary...isn't that just as glorified McDonalds (or "Mickey-Ds")?
