Normally, we take our camper down with us when we stay in FW so I can bring all our food with us. This year, we are staying in a cabin and there is no way that 3 kids, suitcases, AND groceries will fit inside our van!! :earseek: Where is the best place to get groceries near WDW? Is there a SuperWalmart nearby? We're staying for 2 weeks and I'd like to get as much as I can from just one store. The kids are already horrified that we're actually going to have to leave Disney property once we check in!

We always have good luck at Publix. Sorry, I can't give you directions, but I know its close. We take a towncar, and I don't pay attention.

There is a Super Wal-Mart located on IRLO Branson Memorial Highway (192). It is located right next to Midevil Times, I would tell you the mile marker if I could remember, it is east of Old Town, probably around marker 8. We always go there to get the things that we always seem to leave behind. The prices aren't jacked up either because it is close to WDW. If I was guessing, I would say that it isn't more than 10 minutes from Fort Wilderness, if you know your way around the area, it is easy to get lost and headed in the wrong direction.

i used both publix and super walmart, all of which are up and down 192
publix seem to be near resorts/country clubs-ex orange lake, summer bay, and superwalmart was a drive down 192 both are great and same prices as at home

There is also a Winn Dixie by Down Town Disney. You have to pass DTD, all the hotels and come to a light that has a McDonalds across from it (it is the road that actually runs in front of dtd and it will end). From there, you turn left and Winn Dixie is on the right about 2 or 3 lights down. I find this easier than traveling on 192 and the prices are reasonable. We also take our camper, but stay more than 2 weeks and I always end up going there about 1 time a week. I went online and applied for a Winn Dixie bonus card and they mail me coupons!

I go to this same Winn Dixie. It's a fairly new and very nice store. I did the same as mrsgus06, applying online for the bonus card (we don't have Winn Dixie in Michigan). I also go online right before traveling, and call up the weekly flyer to see what's on sale. Helps get the shopping list ready. :)

I liike that Winn Dixie by dt Disney, too.

If you go on Mondays and are a AAA member with an grocery order over $25. you get an extra 5% off order total.

herc.

We also went to Publix and they gave us directions at check in.

guess I am one of the few who like Goodings. I don't find their prices to be any more than I pay here at home in Ohio. They are easy to find, and convenient.

But I have not been evidently since they built the new Winn Dixie.....

I also think that Goodings has high prices. We usually go to Winn Dixie also. You can get one of their "shoppers club" cards (or whatever they call them) & get the discounts they have available.

Remember also, just like at home, you can bring coupons with you! :)

We also like Publix. I believe the closest one is on E. Osceola Parkway. If you're driving away from WDW(east) on Irlo Bronson, turn left on E. Osceola, there will be a Walgreens on the left. The Publix will be on the right, almost immediately after you turn.

They do a great job on their sandwiches at the deli counter. My husband says that their Cuban sandwiches are the best he's had. If you prefer a vegetarian sandwich they offer a wide choice of fresh veggies and cheese.

Goodings prices range at the high end of independent grocers in our area to absurd tourist prices. But I live a very competetive market for groceries!

Publix had a pretty good selection, although their prices are a bit higher than home (remember, very competetive market at home).

If you Google WalMart and Target for their websites, you can look up the locations and plot them on MapQuest or your favorite mapping site. Ditto for Publix, Albertson's and Winn Dixie.

We used to do SuperWalmart, but that place is such a zoo. We switched to Publix or Winn Dixie. Then this past visit we went to Sams Club first an then to the new Super Target. Now THAT was a really nice store.

Where's the Sam's Club? We're members and since I am shopping for 2 weeks worth, it might be easier just to hit that store. :sunny: Luckily, we're not big meal eaters when we're on vacation. We had tossed around the idea of getting 2 value rooms instead of the cabin, but when I started thinking of the cost of food for 5 of us (2 teenagers too! ), I told the kids we were doing the cabin. The first thing my son said was "Yes! That mean I get spaghettios!" :smooth: (no argument from Mom! :love2: )

Sams Club is located on 192. It is before the Super Walmart on the opposite side of the road (on the left).
