Best Place For Boys Glasses? Update post 27 :)

My DD6 just got glasses a few months ago. I have to tell you, finding some that fit her was not easy at all! In addition to the arm length, you need to make sure the nose part fits his bridge. My DD has a very teeny nose with a skinny bridge and we only found one pair that would fit it after searching 4 stores. I know that I probably can't order online for her because of the whole fit thing.

JMO, of course, but we did have a hard time and really had to try on EVERYTHING!

The saga continues. :)

We went to Penny's with the goal to buy the glasses tonight. Well that didn't happen. Couldn't find any that we liked. So, it's back to the drawing board. The warranty goes out the window if there isn't anything that suits.

I did get the measurements (pupillary distance and temple distance) I need to order online, JIC. I did see some styles I liked at Penny's but either they didn't fit or the field of vision wasn't large enough. I don't want the frames to cut across his line of vision. Ugh.

What I do like about some of the online eyeglass sites have children with the frames on and it will give you an idea of the style with the face shape. I will keep you guys posted.

Thanks again for all of the tips! :)

I will say the "arms" or whatever those pieces are called are a little bit too long for DS on the Zenni glasses. And they don't really curve at the back - they are just straight. Again, not a big deal because we just got them for sunglasses, but for every day glasses you want them to fit properly. :)

Do you know if they ask for temple distance? I "think" that addresses it. I got the short version in the store.

Hmm. I don't remember. I ordered them last summer, so my memory is fuzzy. :rotfl: I know I took a ruler and measured the length of his current glasses, then tried to match that measurement to the glasses on the website. I did have to enter the pupil distance so the lenses are good. I don't wear glasses so the whole thing is foreign to me.

I was looking on one of the websites and it explains the numbers. The last set of 3 numbers 120 to 130 is an example of kid's size glasses. We were looking at some that were 135 and my son had an extra bit that stuck out behind his ear. That's when the customer representative told me about it. He needs 130.

We got the glasses from Zenni Optical. Couldn't be any happier! I ordered non-glare and high index (I think it's called). The glasses also came with free polarized sun glass clip ons. Total price $30 and change including shipping and handling.

They did need adjusting. We took them to a local store (that I have bought my glasses from) and had them adjusted. I was going to buy a hard shell case, but they didn't have any at the time. I was surprised, but I'll go back. The guy was nice as he could be. He asked about the glasses and said they were fine. All they needed was an an adjustment.

I'm thrilled! He has gotten a lot of compliments on the glasses already! To know we will most likely have to turn around and get another pair in 6 months (as per the doctor) it was a relief not to have to spend a fortune to only do it again. I'm going to get a back up pair to have on hand, just in case.

Thank you so much to everyone that gave suggestions! Very helpful and budget minded! Thanks a million! :)
