Best Part of the Trip: Disney Dining!

I guessed I missed reading this while you wrote it, but I'll thank you for the great dining report now that I've read it all! It's funny, I never think of ESPN even though I'm sure DH would love it. Although we never stay at the Boardwalk, so it's not that convenient. However, my sister and I will be trying Flying Fish this trip, so I hope that's good!

Hi Kimmy! Just read through all your reviews. So do you like ESPN Zone? And why does your pepperoni pizza at BW look so much better than what we ordered the one and only time? I have to say that I agree with your observation about the BW Bakery sandwiches..... I was hoping for better. Glad you had some good dining choices (SAI - LOVE that place!)

So not related to this DR but I have to mention that I still think of you when I go to US's WWoHP. I'm a big convert! :)

I somehow completely missed your dining report until today, of course now that it is over. You completely succeeded in making me hungry for just about everything. But i can't get that pork grilled cheese off my mind. I've never even heard of that before and now have my mind set on it for our trip next week. And that pizza. How on earth did I miss that our last trip when we stayed at BW.

Thanks for a great report.

Thanks for your report. We were able to get the BOG lunch the last time were at WDW and finally (through my wife's diligence) were able to score the TS for our spring trip this year. Really looking forward to that! Your ESPN dining experience also answered a few questions I had, so thanks for that as well!

Just read (and enjoyed) your whole report! We've stayed at BWV twice and tried to get in ESPN club, but it's always packed and has such a long wait :sad1: Hopefully one of these days we'll get in! And my kids LOVE the Boardwalk pizza :thumbsup2
DH and I will be back at BWV in 12 days and had San Angel Inn booked, but cancelled for Restaurant Marrakkesh. Now I'm thinking we should've stuck with SAI, yours and Garrett's meals looked great! If I keep Marrakkesh I'll definitely have to put SAI on my list for Aug. or Nov. We're also eating at Portabello in DTD one night but now might have to switch to Raglan Rd. lol. Thanks for giving me more to do before we leave :P:upsidedow
I do agree with you that BOG lunch is underwhelming. Many people feel lunch is better than dinner but we're the opposite. We've done lunch once and dinner 4x and (obviously) enjoy dinner more. Never had a bad meal or bad service, and it has become both mine and DS9's favorite TS in all of WDW :goodvibes
Glad you enjoyed your trip, I'll look for your DR in July :)

Fantastic report! You saved a lot with the DVC discount!

BTW, could you go to WDW more often? I'm a Chiefs fan. :)

Before our trip, I finally scored a Be Our Guest lunch fast pass! I opted for the order once you arrive option, which we regretted. Basically, once our fast pass was verified, we were directed into a line on the bridge. Everyone who had pre-ordered was waltzing right in. Then we waited in the hall with knights. The whole ordeal took around an hour.

It was so crowded and loud but gorgeous inside. Shocker, I know.

It was pretty hard to find a seat. We had wanted to sit in the West Wing but that wasn't happening. We did find a table right near the drinks in the ballroom. It felt like it took a while for our food to come out, but it probably felt longer because we had felt like we had done nothing but wait!

We had originally planned on getting Landon the Maurice macaroni but the picture showed it as a pasta-lump which looked very unappetizing, so we got him the Carved Turkey Sandwich instead, substituting french fries on the side with cookies for dessert. He was a little hesitant to eat it because of the red things (tomatoes? I don't know, didn't try or look to closely at the time!). He said he liked it, but we could tell it wasn't his favorite.

Garret got the Carved Prime Chuck Roast Beef Sandwich. He said it good, the sauce on it was good. The meat was good quality. He would order it again.

My selection was the Croque Monsieur, which was probably the winner of the bunch. I really enjoyed it. The ham was thick, warm and delicious and I really enjoy Gruyere cheese. The béchamel really sent it over the top. The "pomme frites" were really thin and delicious...I love them that way, so it was perfect for me! I do know we all wished we had more ketchup! I'm pretty sure I ran out first.

No discount here, but oh well. I doubt we would return for lunch. Not really worth the wait and it was probably the most expensive quick service. It actually cost about the same as ESPN Club!

Landon was eating pretty slowly, so Garret stayed with him while he finished and I wandered and took pictures!

It was so beautiful to see the snow falling with the Christmas decorations up! It was festive and beautiful! And I love the chandeliers!!

Thanks for the heads up! We just pre ordered our food so, hopefully, we won't have the long wait! Love the review so far!

We had the wings from ESPN via room service on our honeymoon. I still remember how big and tasty they were. Really good!

I am Kimmy and obsessed with Disney food!

Hi Kimmy! I'm Alyson; me too! :yay:

The nachos are amazingly good as well...and another repeat order from our last trip! I think the thing that sets them apart from other nachos is the delicious addition of pulled pork. There was a ton of chips AND toppings and we loved it all.

These nachos do look amazing (minus the pulled pork for me).

Actual good, delicious, amazing pizza???!?

Totally agree with you! I got a slice years ago, and was totally shocked how good that pizza is. Seeing your pizza makes me want to go back and have it again.

(I thought they were spelled "macaroons" but that's not how it is on the receipt! I'm so confused!)

Macaroons are the coconut cookies; macarons are the super light, crispy French cookies/candies. Then there are meringues, which always really screws me up! :rotfl:

I'm a huge crab legs fan though.

Me too!

Looks like you had some great meals. I enjoyed reading your reviews. :thumbsup2

Great reviews! I am happy to hear the pepperoni pizza tasted good for a budget meal. It is nice to have that option while at Disney. Sometimes with kids you just need some down time at the resort.
