Just back form our very first DVC stay. It was in Congress Park at SSR.
One morning as I was opening the drapes of our 1 bedroom groundfloor villa, what do I see sunning it self on the bushes right in front of my window? A black 2 foot long snake!!! :scared1:  :scared1:
OK, so what's the big deal? I'm a city slicker and the only times I've seen snakes are in zoos or on TV!!!!!! thank goodness I had not gone out onto the patio for my morning coffee or else I would have had company. :scared:
From now on, no more ground floor rooms for me!!
My DH thought it was very funny as I was screaming!!!!:rotfl:
BTW, SSR was very nice.

I am so glad that was not out our window because DD would have insisted on trying to catch it and keep it as a pet! (I've eaten at CRT with a lizard in a princess sippy cup before - and have a picture somewhere). :rotfl:

My favorite snake-at-Disney moment was at Typhoon Lagoon. I was feeling a little  after the lazy river and was resting on a pool chair next to one of those little "islands" of trees. A huge snake slithered from the bushes across the pathway and behind my chair where it proceeded to slither UP the tree!!!!! I grew up in Florida and had snakes as pets - but I had never seen one climb a tree (duh - guess that explains how they get in trees in the movies).

Luckily, I am not afraid of snakes - but I can only imagine how it would freak someone out to have a snake drop out of a tree onto their pool chair! :scared1: :scared1:

OMG! Even the lizards freak me out! :scared1:

:rotfl: Okay - I found my picture - here's DD's lizard at CRT. The first time we took her to WDW all she wanted to do was catch lizards.

That is so cute! I assume you let it go? My DD is 17 now and is still likely to want to take lizards home. She really should be a vet or something. I am happy to leave the reptilian creatures alone, hoping that they'll return the favor.

We did swim quite often with the baby ducks at SAB. They actually came quite close which I of course never got a picture of. You can see that after a while my daughter became very laid back about the whole thing.

I was at Hilton Head last week, and just as I was walking from the beach to the Beach House - about where it changes from all sand to the dunes with sea oats - a guy in front of me jumped and yelled, and a 3 or 4 foot long black snake slithered across the path!! I thought it was weird to see a snake that close to the beach!!

great pic of the lizard in the princess cup!! HA! So far I'm 0 and 10 for seeing snakes on my WDW trips! :goodvibes Lets keep it that way!

On a trip to BVC, we saw an all-black snake slither across the walkway between the main house and the villas. He was not interested in stopping. I hear alot about black snakes at Disney but apparently the bad ones keep their distance.

My DD saw a black snack at BB as we were cruising the lazy river. Some of the CMs were trying to catch it. Thankfully I didn't see it...I could pretend it was nothing!

I live in fear of the moment when I will see a snake on property...I've managed to avoid it two times, but we will see this August. We are at VWL for a week.

On my first visit to Disney as a kid (way back in the day), they had to close down a Fort Wilderness beach area because of a 5 foot water mocassin. The thing was huge and it was right near where we were swimming :scared1:

I've seen a number of snakes at WDW, but all of them have been on the golf course. DW and I saw a really big black snake on the Oak Trail course one morning. We have also seen one on the 7th fairway on the Palm golf course. This one was smaller and was a yellowish color. One year we ran into one on the 17th tee box at the Palm. He was playing from the Pro tees and I think he had a 9 degree driver in hand. He was actually sitting up with his head about 5 or 6 inches in the air. My brother thought he was sleeping or dead until he (my brother) beat the head of his driver on the ground and the snake turned his head. Needless to say we did not use the Pro tees and my drive off of the regular tees was rather shakey. To quote a movie, "snakes, why did it have to be snakes!"

but I had never seen one climb a tree.:

I don't like snakes... at all. Especially after seeing one climb up a pole to check for (I'm guessing eggs) in a bird condo. They shouldn't be able to climb in my opinion.

Typically, we'll see one or two around our house during non-winter months. Already this year we have seen seven. I don't like it. :sad2: I can't kill anything and I think they know it.

While walking back from Disney Studios last year we saw a 3 ft black snake slither off the path into the brush right next to the tennis courts.

Only snake in 30+ visits.
