So, if it really does rain on friday, is there one park better than the others for navagating in the rain? I am guessing Animal Kingdom is out of the running.

I am already so excited about running in the freezing cold on Sunday morning (NOT), why not add in a little rain? :confused3

thanks all and STAY WARM!

I'd say the Magic Kingdom. It was probably designed for rain, there are overhangs on pretty much all the buildings, and there are many covered queues (Small World, Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, TTA). Hmm, now that I wrote this I guess it really was designed for rain, whatta ya know lol!

Personally, if your goal is to stay dry AND you want to ride I do not recommend Magik Kingdom--many of the rides themselves take place out in the elemenets Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, much of Fantasy Land, Flying Carpets, Jungle Cruise, etc.).

The Future World side of Epcot is good--short walks between big enclosed buidings with many rides. The only ride which really has any element out doors is Test Track.

We have also done well with Hollywood Studios. You can stay dry at all of the shows, other than the stunt show, and on nearly all the rides (Star Tours, Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, etc.).

We like EPCOT, news flash, huh? LOL.

If you have to be in a park when it rains, use an umbrella, or a poncho. I know that sounds like, a "well duh" thing to say, but you'll be amazed at the number of people who don't have rain gear and are huddled in those dry places.

Just be sure your poncho covers your clothing. It will wick the water and if you have on trousers, the bottom half will get wet.

Same with rain jackets.

Good luck with the marathon!

On warm, rainy days I recommend AK.

Cooler rainy days go Epcot!

I would do Epcot too, a lot of inside strolling is possible through the world showcase.

I did the Magic Kindgom once in a terrible rain/thunder storm. Not a fun time.

I just want to say I am sorry it may rain on you. :guilty:
Because really, NONE of the parks are good in the rain. Even in a poncho, with an umbrella. We went to Epcot last month in the pouring rain. It was miserable. We have been to AK in the pouring rain in January. Also miserable.

I hope it doesn't rain! :wizard:

I know this is regarding DL, but Disneyland in the rain is one of the best experiences. It never really rains hard in southern california. A light rainy day at the park was one of the funnest experiences we've had. The park was light on crowds and not one attraction had a line. We walked on everything numerous times. Actually rode everything in the park, even some we've never bothered with. We even rode POTC and HM 8 times each.

I have to say I was kind of done by the end of that day. :)

We did MK in the rain over Thanksgiving week and it was great. Most of the rides are covered and the rain kept the crowds away.

I would put my vote to Epcot as most things are in a pavilion. The other good thing about Epcot is that you can just use an umbrella as you walk between pavilions, and not have to worry about a poncho.

Also carry a rag or take a wash cloth from your hotel room to wipe off seats from those that wear ponchos.

Thanks! I am ready to get this run started.

On topic-i ended up doing Hollywood Studios in the rain. It wasn't bad since most things were inside. Kinda funny to see HSM3 do a driveby show rather than performance. Not complaining too much.

The bus is arriving at AK. So o it is time to conquer EVEREST!!!

I was wondering what you thought of our lovely cold front. yesterday didn't seem to be that bad, this morning looks miserable. And I finally turned the heat on to 69, there was no way I was going to freeze last night. But there didn't seem to be any frost or snow on the ground, even though it did rain. Everything is just wet.

It's been all over the news... every time the weather comes on about the Marathon and how people are going to freezing their buns off. You've got more guts than I do, I get cold way too easily.

BTW, how is your trip coming along? are you staying at POP or HoJo?? Sounds like you're making quite the trip around the parks.

I think we need to change the title of this thread.....

"Best park in the sleet and snow?" :lmao:

Yeah -- I turned on the TV news this am& the weatherman was talking about SNOW in Orlando and I immediately thought of Pat. HOLY COW!

I'd rather take the cold and no crowds than swelter in the sea of humanity. You can always warm up in January, but it's almost impossible to cool down in July!

We usually go in August. And I bring a jacket. ;)

Ugh! This makes me think that I probably NEVER want to go to Dallas!

Just freezing weather is basically my favourite for a long run though, so, all of these weather discussions have had me wishing that I were there to join everyone.
