Best or Worst Time on Spirit Air?

I am flying out on Spirit Air and I haven't heard much about them. What has your experience been?

We've flown with Spirit several times from Atlantic City Airport, and have had no problems whatsoever.

Exept for waiting for de-icing one trip, we've always departed and arrived on time.

Have a nice trip:)

We have used Spirit for four different Disney trips. We fly out of Atlantic City and always take the first flight out at 7 am. I dont have any complaints and AC airport sure beats the hassle of Newark airport!

I flew on Spirit for the first time last Christmas between Detroit and MCO. Everything went really well, except that they were woefully understaffed at the MCO counter when I was flying home. I stood in line about 45-60 minutes (forget exactly, but somewhere in that span). Curbside checking was equally slow. The lady in front of me had her husband standing outside to see which line moved faster. They were about the same. I felt sorry for the ticket agents that day. They were doing the best they could, from what I could tell, but could have just used more workers for such a busy time of year.

I made my flight in plenty of time, since I'd arrived plenty early at MCO. I'd definitely fly with Spirit again. ::yes::

I'll let you all know of my experiences on SPIRIT. I fly them on Wednesday from Detroit to Denver and come back on Sunday!

We'll be flying Spirit for the first time in Oct. Hope all goes well!

We flew Spirit to Orlando from Chicago last August.

The flight was fine. I didn't really notice any difference from my previous flights on United or American.

We are flying Spirit again at the end of this month for our next
adventure at WDW.

Don't be afraid to get the "Spirit."

I am so glad to hear all of the positive responses to Spirit! Thanks. I can't wait for our trip. This is the first time to Disney for me and my DD so I am glad to know that Spirit is well liked.

I haven't flown them, but a client of mine did. Well, she tried to!

She had booked a trip to the Bahamas, and was going to fly Spirit from Chicago to Miami, then switch to American to continue to the islands. But Sprit was delayed 4 hours, and they had no way of making their American flight. Since Spirit has no ticket agreements with any of the other carriers, they would have had to buy a new ticket (at their own expense, Spirit said they wouldn't pay for it even though it was a mechanical delay) to make it to Miami for their flight. But a last minute ticket was over $800 PER PERSON, which my client couldn't afford. So they canceled the weekend trip, which was a surprise for my client's husbands birthday.

To add insult to injury, it took over 6 months for Spirit to refund the un-used ticket. I called once a week for 6 months. They kept saying it was on the way, it had been taken care of. But the credit never showed on the clients credit card. I finally got a nice, competant person on the phone who got it taken care of.

From what I've heard they are a good airline to fly. But if there is a cancelation or delay, your stuck until Spirit can get you out, they won't put you on another carrier.

I flew them Wed DTW-DEN and the line was long in the am at DTW but it moved quickly. SPIRIT is discontinuing service to Denver beginning Sept. 1. Rumor is because the landing fees at DEN are very $$$$

Flew home today from Denver and it took an hour for them to board the passengers! I swear I love SWA's method of getting pax on and off the plane so much better. Our flight was at 3:05 and we were required to be in the gate area at 2:25 when boarding began. There was a snafu with some seats and our plane didn't depart on time. It was warm on the plane sitting there at the gate, too! We had about a 45 minute wait for our luggage at DTW.

SPIRIT is a no frills airline and. just like SWA, does NOT offer flights on other carriers. Something has to give if you want cheaper airfare!

Will I fly them again? Only if SWA does NOT serve the city I need to fly too!
