My DH and I will be staying at Pop Century the night before our cruise. There are only 2 of us so what would be the best option for transportation to the port? Does the DCL bus pick you up from Pop Century? Cost and the time we would arrive in port would help us decide.

We always rent a car. A full size will run you around $40 for a day. This is cheaper than Disney transportation, and allows you to leave when you want and beat the crowds. Drop your luggage at the port, return the car, and take their shuttle back. Just do the reverse after the cruise.

That is a good idea, but how do you get to the rental car place from the Pop Century?

I believe a couple rental agencys are located on WDW property. If you are staying just one night at Pop Century before the cruise, rent at the airport and return the next day at the port. This would still be only one day rental.

Actually we are flying 2 days before the cruise and staying at Pop 2 nights, so we wouldn't want to rent a car at the airport. We are planning on using the Magical Express to get to WDW, but need a good way to get to the Port from Pop. We are doing the REAS package so if it is a better option to take the DCL bus we will have ressies for Palo and the spa already. I just want to be able to maximize the day on the ship!

We too are staying at a Disney hotel. We called several rental car agencies that do pickup. They pick you up at your hotel then drive you to the rental car agency. You sign your papers and then send you on your way with your rental car. I'm sending my husband to the retal car agency and then he is going to come pick us up at the hotel. The cost is free to the rental agency. Then we drive to the Cape, drop the car off and take the rental car shuttle to the boat.

Good Luck with your plans

I beleive that Disney's "bell" service can get your bags to the ship if you purchase transfers. If you went this route, you would catch the bus over to the ship around 1pm at Disney's Animal Kingdom (the park, NOT the lodge:) )

Bump, I just want to see my signature. Any other suggestions would be helpful also! Thanks for the suggestions so far.

We stayed at the Sports themed hotel, at a loss for the name now and the buses didn't go there so I was told we would have to take a taxi to the Swan and Dolphin (of course I can remember the name of the expensive one :goodvibes ) to get our luggage there. The bus wouldn't leave for the port until 11 or 11:30 for the port. I got the transfers but we didn't use them. After getting into the airport late we decided the cost of the car was not that much and we could get to the port early so that we could do all the reservation stuff. You can get the car at the airport and return it at port, no problem and very easy. I would look into the cost of transportation vs. car rental (and tolls to the port, something we were not familiar with in CA  ) and the convience of not relying on someone else. I would do the car rental.
