I'm all over the place trying to decide what to do for my May 2010 - 2 bedroom reservations. I have 250 points available at BWV and 100 points available at SSR. These are going to be borrowed points, so I'm all borrowed out.

Here are my options:

I can make the first 2 nights at SSR for 89 points and the other 6 nights standard view at BWV for 250 points. This would guarantee we would have a room for the family.

I can book the BWV 6 nights standard view 250 points and wait until 7 months and try to get standard view for the other 2 nights. (However, I'm worried that the standard view rooms will all be gone. (I'm short 13 points to make the whole week boardwalk/preferred view).

I can book the BWV 6 nights standard view 250 points and wait until 7 months and book 2 boardwalk view nights with my Saratoga points for for 97 points (if standard is all gone at 7 months out).

I can try to rent BWV points and make the entire week at 11 months.

I can book the 6 nights standard view and pay for rooms at BWV through the regular reservation system.

What do other who have 2 contract do in situations like this?

The dates are May 15 - 23rd. Is this a busy time for DVC?

I have more than one contracts and more than one membership and I am usually borrowing, so I can relate.;)

I would choose the above scenerio. I'm assuming the first 6 nights is May 15-21 and the last 2 nights are May 21-23rd. Since May 21-23rd are weekends, there may be a better chance that a standard view or any other view will be available at 7 mths. It is not always a guarantee. But some members like to pay Cash for weekends, or don't even stay for the weekends and some even go offsite. So there is a higher probability to get a room on points during the weekends. Now, since they have changed the point system somewhat, this may not be as important as it was before.

However, if you do not want to take a chance and you are willing to pay Cash, then I would reserve the last two nights under DVC cash (hopefully you can get a DVC discount) and if at 7 mths, the room is available for points, then you can always just cancel the Cash Reservation. I have done this many times. Half the time, I was able to get the room with points and I just cancelled my DVC Cash reservation.

Good luck. Remember, just my opinion!:)

May is one of the easier months to book BWV at 7 months. No guarantees, but it is a lot easier than the fall months.

My advice is to book the first Saturday night (5/15) and all of the weeknights at the BWV at 11 months. Then as soon as your 7 month window opens, call to see if you can get the last two nights of BWV standard view with you remaining BWV points and your SSR points combined. If the nights are not available, waitlist for them. There's a good chance they will come through for you. Weeknights always book more quickly than weeknd nights.

You could consider booking the last two nights at SSR as a back up while still waitlisting for the standard view nights at BWV. Then the worst case is your party moves once, but at least you still have a place to sleep. Another back up option is to make cash reservations at BWV for the missing two nights.

FWIW, I really think a waitlist will work and may not even be necessary. As already posted, the Fridays and Saturdays book more slowly than the week nights and May is one of the easier months to try to get Standard view (or Boardwalk view ) at 7 months. Be sure to call as soon as your 7 month window opens as soon as MS opens for the day to hve the best chance.

Good luck!

I will take your advice and book the first 6 nights in a standard view at 11 months and then at 7 months book the other two nights (Friday and Sat night). Even if they don't have standard available, I have enough Saratoga points to book boardwalk view. At least if we do have to move, it will be at the same resort.

Thanks for getting my head straight on this!
