best option for late night arrival

I think that if you are at a WDW hotel, they will move your luggage from one hotel to the other for free. Might be worth it to leave you luggae at the value and have them move it for you while you are at the park and you just zip over to check in.

We always just stay at the resort we are booked in for the whole trip. We have arrived as late as 1am.

I don't want the hassle of dealing with a 2nd hotel. I'd rather pay the money and stay in 1 place.

This is how we feel - I like to wake up and start the day. I do not think it is worth a few bucks to switch hotels. Then you have to check out by 11am and your room at WDW might not be ready until later. You spend more on a wasted park ticket for that day than you do on the hotel after you factor inthe time you will spend to move and check in 2 times.

I'm doing this for our trip next week. We were suppose to be arriving on monday but we had to switch our flight and leave sunday night instead and we won't be getting into MCO until around 9pm and we still need to get luggage and get our rental car so I decided to book a cheap (but nice) room close to Disney for the one night instead of paying for another 2 bedroom at OKW. I decided on the Buena Vista Suites as well. Booked it tonight and they had a deal for 20% off the best available rate so I got a 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen size beds plus sleeper sofa in livingroom for $75.00!!!!!!!! Includes free breakfast buffet as well! So we can rest...wake up early and fill up on a free buffet before we head over to check in at OKW. Free parking as well, so that was a plus!
I was originally going to book 2 cheap rooms through priceline...but I think this ends up being a MUCH better deal!!!
So, if ya can't tell...I say find something cheap for the one night! You only need it for less than 12 hours!!!!:thumbsup2

You did get a nice hotel deal however how much are you spending on transportation since youare not staying at a WDW resort you will not have ME option?

We had already decided before-hand that we were going to get a rental for the week. (full size for 7 days $160.00 total) We are doing Universal for 2 to 3 days and possibly Busch Gardens a day plus my kids are taking an early AM Y.E.S. class that they needed transportation for. Cheaper than getting a shuttle or cab to go to and from. Plus we have a Villa at OKW so I can do some shopping for our room too instead of paying extra for delivery. Normally I'm all for DME and resort busses...unfortunately this time a rental made more sense. :teacher:

We drove down once and dh insisted on driving straight from ny we got in at 12am. We called Disney and they got us in at AsM. Next morning we asked to have bags transferred and we enjoyed the day at MK. No hassle of getting bags.

if you have a car-luggage is no problem. We had one suitcase that was for our "one night" stay-left the rest in the car-got up in the morning-drove to our new home-left all of our bags with Bell services, checked in got our KTTW. Happily went to the parks- no wasted day at all- when we got back from the park our room was ready-Bell services brought up the luggage- No big deal easy peasy:wizard:

Just another option:

We drive from NJ. We split the drive. We stop in GA or just inside FL. We check into a place we can use a coupon or get a AAA discount and sleep well, wake early and arrive to WDW around the earlier time for check in. If you arrive a bit too early, they will hold your bags for you and you can just go ahead and hit the parks.

My thinking is that the kids would be too excited to sleep if we arrive later at night. This way, they are able to enjoy WDW as soon as we get there.

Just a thought. :)

I agree with post above......Personally I am not sure it is worth the check in and out and in time. I would be upset to miss precious mouse time.

We do this frequently since we drive also. We usually stay at a Howard Johnson on W Irlo Bronson Highway in Kissimmee. I got it this year in September for $30 plus tax, came to about $35 total. We checked out in the morning and drove over to POFQ , only took about 10 minutes maximum and checked in, we were given our KTTW cards with our tickets on them, left our luggage in our car and drove over to AK for the day. Moved into our room when we left AK which closed at 5pm. Just make sure to pack an overnight hotel bag so you don't have to unpack the entire car for your one night stay.

we are doing something similar on our next trip... we will be arriving in the afternoon/early evening instead of in the morning, so we are going to stay at POR for our first night, and eat OOP at T-Rex for dinner in DD. Then we can get some rest and start fresh the next morning at the Poly with our DxDDP :)

Apologizing in advance if this has been asked 100 times before, but my husband and I are driving to Orlando and it will take about 12 hours to get there. We are staying at the Boardwalk Inn for our vacation. Our question is should we book a cheap hotel in the Orlando area on the night we arrive or stay at one of the value resorts? We did not feel it was worth it to book an extra night at the Boardwalk. We would appreciate any advice on finding a hotel that is in the $50-$100 range that is within a few miles of our resort.

Thank you!

We priceline the first night...disney area for $60.00 and we always get the Hilton at Downtown Disney. This way we don't waste points...we have also done this to save weekend points. It is a nice hotel and you can't beat the price.
