Last time we got 2 rooms at POP, and it was just too crowded.

Looking for other alternatives. Are we better off getting a suite somewhere, 2 rooms in a mod?

We prefer two rooms at CSR. That's 4 queen beds, two fridges, two bathrooms, two tvs, etc. Disney "guarantees" that the rooms will be connecting when it's a family traveling with small kids. However, I put guarantee in quotes because I've been cautioned on this board that guarantee doesn't exactly mean guaranteed. :confused3. But we haven't had a problem getting connecting rooms so far. One year we had me, DH, DS9, DNephew8, DD7, DS4, and my sister who was 15 in two rooms at CSR and we didn't feel too crowded. The bathrooms are nice in that there is a door to the toilet/shower area and then a sliding door between the room and the sink area. So there were opportunities for privacy when getting ready. POR and POFQ have queens now too. Another option would be POR AB section where they have 2 queens and a small pull down bed. HTH

With your family size and their ages: DS (13) DS (11) DS (10)
DS (7) DS (4)

I think 2 rooms at POR would work better. You will get a total of 4 queen beds and 2 Murphy beds for your DS 7 and your DS 4. :thumbsup2

If I had a group that large and I really wanted to stay on site, I'd seriously look into renting DVC points for a 2 bedroom villa.

Agree with pp - I would look into renting points for a 2 bedroom villa. You would have a full kitchen to keep quick breakfast things, snacks, and drinks handy. You would also have a w/d so you wouldn't have to take as much and the best (at least I think so) you don't return home with tons of laundry.
The 2 bedrooms sleep 8 so you would have plenty of room, have two bathrooms and space to spread out and not have to worry about being up past the kids since you would have a separate bedroom.

Well, why was it too crowded? Not enough floor space, storage space, bathrooms, sinks? A mod room will be a little bigger, but not that much. Some of the deluxes have large rooms and others not so much. One or 2 sinks and storage space will vary too. A 2BR villa at Kindani or OKW, or a Tree house villa at SSR might be best. Really it depends on what you're looking for and are willing to pay for.

The thing with renting points with a larger family is you miss out if free dining comes out for your dates. FD with 7 people is a much bigger savings than a room discount even with 2 rooms. I'd go with 2 rooms at POR as well since you have the murphy beds for the younger kids. There's not a lot of storage though so I'd bring some of those closet organizers/shelf things if you do choose to stay there.

I would look into renting points unless you are hoping to do free dining. We are also a family of 7, but we can still fit into a family suite or cabin since our youngest is only 8 months. Honestly, 2 moderate rooms isn't going to be that much more space than 2 value rooms. 2 deluxe rooms, maybe, but that is costly. Renting points would be a good idea for you.

I totally agree. If you think 2 rooms at values is crowded, then 2 rooms at a mod wont be any better. Its a bit bigger but not by much. If by crowed you mean the beds, then i get it. Most mods have queen beds. So thats a bonus. Definitely more comfy at night.

I think POR or CSR would be good choices. Maybe others don't think an added 54 sq. ft. per room is much, but my family notices the difference.

If you go with a two bedroom villa, Old Key West is the roomiest by far!

if you want more room then OKW - it has 2 bathrooms - king bed in master, 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom, queen sleeper sofa and chair bed in the livingroom.

it also has a full kitchen. the only thing it does not have is a table that will seat everyone for meals - but if you count the area outside and the area in the 2nd bedroom - you definitely have enough.

now if you want another bathroom - then you will probably pay more - in a 2-bedroom those are only at BLT (very expensive) and AKV - Kidani (expensive)

OKW also has a laundry room. If you go with OKW then buy groceries - either with your own car or if you fly into Orlando - then wegoshop.com or gardengrocer.com

when are you going?

The Treehouse Villas over at SSR sleep 9. They are beyond cool.

Since your party is less than 10 (or 5 per room) you wouldn't be guaranteed a room with a Murphy bed at POR unless you booked preferred. They tend to use the rooms for 5 for groups of 5.
