Hi:

My parents are arriving in Orlando on a Thurs. at 4:30 pm. We'll already be at the parks as we are checking in a day earlier. What would you all recommend as far as their transportation options from the airport? We have a 6:30 PS at Whispering Canyon that I have booked with them included, so I really hope they can get to WDW/POR as fast as possible to meet us and get over to dinner.

Would you:

(a) drive the rental car and personally pick them up (requiring us to leave the parks, which would not be horrible since we have 2 little kids who need to take a break by later in the day anyway)--Would traffic be unbearable?
(b) have them take a cab
(c) have them take Mears
(d) have them take a town car?

How much would it run them 1-way to get a town car from, say, Tiffany's? Would it be worth it over a cab?

Thanks!

If they are checking into a WDW hotel, use the magical express!

Otherwise, Mears is least expensive but may require a few stops. A taxi is a little less expensive than a town car. We usually get a town car for about 100 rt. It sure is nice to have the comfort of the town car directly to your resort.

Mears is good at what they do, and it is cheap!

I'd use ME. If their flight is delayed ask if they can take a ME bus to WL and then check in after dinner.

I would suggest using a town car service for the following reasons:
a. driver would meet/greet your parents at the airport, saving a bit of time for them not having to run around looking for other means of transport
b. the cost would not be much more than a taxi, possibly around $45 versus $40 for a taxi
c. space in a town car is just a bit more than in a taxi
d. knowing that they were to be met at the airport would alleviate the stress level your parents might have after flying.

hope all goes well with your dinner.

Hey all:

Thanks for the quick turnaround! I actually forgot to mention that ME is not an option because we will be there next week, before the ME goes into effect.

So town car sounds like the consensus...do I need to book in advance?

Yes you book the towncar in advance.

Some parents would prefer to be picked up. If it's nap time have one of you stay with the kids and the other go to the airport.

It would be quicker if you could take your parents luggage so they don't have to wait for their baggage.
