Best on Property Resort Room for 5?

In your opinion what is the best resort room in any category for 5 (2 adults, 3 kids under 10) in terms of comfortable sleeping arrangements? (no DVC resorts as we are not members)

There are actually quite a few options, including DVC resorts even if you are not members.

1. A Fort Wilderness Cabin has a bedroom with a queen, bunks & a murphy bed in the living area. Full kitchen & outdoor deck. A great place (my 3 DD's love it there).

2. Contemporary - you can walk to the MK and take the monorail to EPCOT. A boat ride away from FW for a night time movie. Fairly large rooms. 5th person sleeps on a day bed.

3. Yacht Club or Beach Club - best pool on grounds. Very close to EPCOT & MGM. Fairly decent sized rooms. 5th person is on a day bed.

4. Port Orleans - moderate that sleeps 5. Rooms are smaller. 5th person sleeps on roll-a-way type bed.

5. Rent points from a DVC owner for a 1BR or 2BR (1BR if one of your children is under 3) Both have a full kitchen. Very spacious. This could be done at the BCV, BWV, VWL, OKW or most recently SSR.

I'm sure you would love any of these resorts. The only one we have not stayed at is Port Orleans, but I have heard that is very nice. I have to say that we love staying somewhere that has a kitchen even if we don't cook meals in, although we always do breakfast. This in itself is convenient & saves money.

Depending on when you're going you may be able to get codes for room discounts. Stay on "the boards" & gather as much info as possible. Have fun planning!

I think the Poly is great. We stayed there with 2 adults and 3 kids under 10 and it worked out great. The rooms are very big, there are 2 nice sized beds and a big daybed. Our little kids sleep in the bed together and our oldest had the daybed. The balcony (if you get one) makes the room seem bigger too. It is a nice size. All of us were able to be on it at once. I never once felt cramped in that room. It is definately worth checking out.

We had five at the YC and all rooms at the YC have balconies. Our intent was to have one of the kids sleep on the daybed, but of course when the 2 year old wanted to sleep in the "big bed" that meant Mom got the daybed a few nights. It really wasn't uncomfortable at all. It was about the size of a regular twin bed and the mattress was very comfy. Only one bathroom with five people but we enjoyed the room itself and never really felt crowded. The balcony was wonderful.

FW - with the bunk beds and the murphy bed each child gets his/her own bed - so no fighting over that - plus this is a cabin - it is on its owns - so no neighbors complaining about how noisey your kids are - they can run and scream and really play - there is an entire outside to explore.

you can use the kitchen and save some money (big extra at WDW) - also necessary for those snacks....

some of the BWV studios - are called studios pluses - they also have a day bed - this are all dedicated - but that day bed is small very small.

You can always rent points from a DVC owner - just go to the DVC rental/trade board on this site.

I don't know your location or theming preference, but you would have plenty of room at CR, either a tower or garden wing room.

When we needed room for five we stayed at the Polynesian. It is a beautiful resort and the Monorail makes traviling to MK and EPCOT with small children so easy.

I concur with the other Polynesian fans....the resort is family friendly with beach/pool/marina, the rooms are big by Disney resort standards and the 2 double beds and day bed (big enough for an average size adult) meet all sleeping needs. Being able to have the kids watch the Electric Water Pageant and fireworks from MK on the beach is a real memory maker and the close proximity of the monorail can not be underestimated! Watch for code deals to get a good rate...we leave in May for 8 days and can't wait!

We're haven't stayed at the CR yet,(but we will in March),
but so far out of the other deluxes, the POLY seems to be the best.
I also agree that their daybeds for the 5th person is large enough for an adult.

Long time ago, we stayed at PORS, in the alligator bayou rooms, and that slide under the bed cot was OK when person is small.
(We are on the "hardy" side)LOL!
So, the deluxes, with those queens and a daybed are so much nicer.

And I think the Poly for the little ones, esp, being a monorail resort.

But, I haven't done the CR yet!

We stayed at the GF last July and absolutely loved it!! Now planning for this summer and I like to try different places but my two oldest ages 9 and 6 are begging to go back to GF!! We were in the building right next to the snack bar and they loved the convenience of filling their mugs throughout the day. Also when they took the Pirate Cruise it was right outside of our building!! And of course the convenience of the monrail can't be beat!!!


That being said I feel like a family of 5 in any of the deluxes is a little tight--especially ONLY 1 BATHROOM!!! I was considering 2 rooms at a moderate this year just to give us a little more room and the extra bathroom. Rack rates are pretty comparable (in some cases less) for 2 mods vs 1 deluxe room. We have friends (a family of 4 who are staying at BCV) that are going the same time and want us to stay at BC with them. I'm not sure what I'm doing at this point but I think my kids would really love Stormalong Bay--so we may squeeze into 1 room after all.

On the BWV studios with the tiny daybed (luggage rack in my book). You cannot request them. They are only the luck of the draw. A studio will only hold four plus one under the age of 3. Same with the DVC one bedrooms and all the other DVC studios.

On our first trip to WDW, we had five of us (me and husband, son who was4, two nieces who were 9 and 11). We stayed at the Polynesian and had a room with the day bed. That was very comfortable. That day bed was twin sized and very comfortable. We had a lagoon view and could see the MK fireworks from our balcony at night.

We haven't stayed in the CR but have at the FW homes, Y&BC, GF and Polynesian (many, many times). THe Polynesian wins this family of five's vote. Lots of good reasons given. The rooms are just a little smaller than CR I think and live much larger than GF. At the GF, you lose some living room because of the seperate vanity area I think. We did two rooms there but at the Polynesian we have plenty of room in one for 5 of us plus a wheelchair.

I know that the rooms I've stayed in at the GF, the Polynesian and the Yacht club all had two queens and a nice daybed... and would all have slept 5 adequately.

We only had 4 in the room - 1 son was 5 and one was 18mos. They moved a crib in and we still had TONS of room! The room will accomodate 5 very nicely.

Plus, being on the monorail line with all those kids is a HUGE bonus. We would have died on the bus line.

The only disadvantage is that the commode is in the same room with the shower. I suggest a bathroom schedule with fines for those who go out of turn!
