I read yesterday on one of the posts that someone loved the OKW balconies except for the road noise, and I wondered what area to request to avoid that? It looks like on the map that South Point may be the quietest?

I was in building 37 a couple of weeks ago and there was no road noise, we faced a pond and fairway. However, the grass mowers started up early. Parts of South Point are close to the road, like building 50. We were in building 40 last year (second floor) and even though it was close to the road we did not notice road noise.

We've stayed in buildimg 23 twice which is the first one right over the bridge and we honestly were never bothered by any street noise :goodvibes

Only 36 sleeps till 6 week vacation in disneyworld :cheer2:

Not sure how balconys could have a lot of road noise, since most of them face away from the road. Perhaps building 29 might have a studio balcony closer to the road, but we had no problem with road noise when we stayed in a 2 bedroom on the first floor of that building. Take a look at the map, and you will see that roads go all throughout the resort and access each building. The parts of the building that face the roads are the entrances and access stairs. The decks and large windows all face out the backs of the buildings and toward the golf course, water or woods. In nearly 20 stays, we have never had a road noise issue. If you are staying in a studio...MAYBE since they are on the ends of the buildings.

We have stayed in bldg. 46 twice and no road noise. You do hear the boats going up and down to river to DTD but thats minor and easy on the eyes to watch..smjj

Stayed in building 25 (room 2524 - great 1 bedroom with a large balcony overlooking golf course). The only noise we heard were the nightly fireworks from Epcot. :sunny:

We like the Southpoint area in general, since it is close to a bus stop, close to a quiet pool, and close to the walking path to SSR & DD. I would imagine that the buildings further in off the little sideroad there would have less of the main road noise.

We found 43 and 46 very quiet. The most road noise we personally ever encountered was from building 62----but then this balcony also had a great view of Illuminations & it was a VERY short walk to the main pool and HH (so it was worth the trade off).

with all the trees down - the road notice has increased - hopefully once the trees are back - this won't be a problem.

trees in the South grow fast - so a couple of years and this problem should be gone.

Disney is not planting trees in this area - so expect the wild trees (pest trees) that the South is know for - but they do grow fast. they will be big enough to cut the noise factor in around 5 years (if that long).

building 55 is pretty nice - you will heard the music from West DD and PI.

One year we stayed in building 39 and it was close to one of the main roads outside the resort. We could hear the squeal of the brakes from the Disney buses. We have also stayed in building 26 and not had any problems.

We have stayed twice in a one bedroom (top floor) in Building 11. The balcony looks onto the forest and you can see part of the golf fairway. Very quiet and relaxing. We also love this building because you are a short walk to the main pool, dining etc.

I would think (but can't confirm having never stayed there) that the buildings that are close to the main parkway versus the internal resort roads may have some road noise i.e. buildings 39, 41, 42, 49, 50 etc.
