We are getting ready to leave for our trip on Thursday morning, and I am wondering what building to request. We will be getting there early, and figure it won't hurt to put in a request then. Anyway, we have a 10 year old who will want to swim, and we will not have a car. So we will need to be close to a pool and a bus stop. Anyone have any recommendations? I really don't want to have to hop on a bus just to get to a pool, and I know there are 4 of them on the resort, but are the quiet pools ok with a child?

I'd appreciate any help!! Thanks!

Kids can use any pool at OKW. Quiet pool doesn't mean you have to be quiet, just respectful of other guests at the pool. Any location at the resort will be close to a pool since there are four of them. The pool at Old Turtle Pond is the next largest after the themed pool near the Hospitality House.

You can request something close to the hospitality house, although I think they get more requests for those than they can fulfill, a second choice might be in buildings 23 - 27 which is near the Peninsular Rd bus stop and just a short walk to the main pool. desk, Hanks, and the ferry to DTD....those are not requested that often so you might stand a better chance of getting in there.

Just make sure you don't request a room TOO close to a bus stop. Don't let the map fool you - things are "much closer than they appear." :-) If you get one right on the road (as we did last year) you'll enjoy the cacauphony of buses running at all hours. We lived in the city, we're used to noises, but for some reason in the quiet of OKW, the buses right outside our window were really annoying.

There are a few buildings around the Turtle Pond area that are located nicely - close enough to the bus stop that it's a short walk, but off the main roadway. Good luck! :-)

I like building 18 and 55. both are close to a pool and not far from a bus stop.

plus each has lovely water views.

here is a map

62,63,64 have elevators and are near HH. the only ones with elevators.

if you can avoid it - don't get 20, 21, 36, 40, 44, 51, 52 - these are where the buses will turn around. so anything near the road in these building will get noise from the buses.

I also did like like 45. this is a slight hill and the buses not to mention those little carts - were constantly making noise for me in a studio here. It started around 6:30 am and didn't stop until 3:00 am. Now this is just a problem on the end studio. the 1-bedroom and 2 bedroom claim there is not a problem.

Yes, I agree - this is a GREAT location!!!! It's like a little cul-de-sac. No buses come through there, but when you get to the main road, if you turn right there's a bus stop a few feet away; if you turn left and cross the street, you're practically right at Hospitality House, the pool, the restaurants, the marina....

Can you do your request by fax or when you arrive? We are staying there on our upcoming trip. First time there.

We are DVC members and have stayed at OKW 3 times. We have always requested close to HH on our "reservation requests", 2nd after non-smoking.

We have stayed in bldg 23 2x and in April we were in bldg 63. Both were very close to HH and a bus stop.

I suggest you call whichever group made your reservation, DVC or CRO and add that to your reservation now. We have never had a choice of room because of medical non-smoking, but I have heard of others being given a choice.

DVC doesn't accept faxes for requests. You'll need to call MS before you leave or ask when you check in.

We are renting points, and the owner made a request for us to be close to the hospitality house and a pool. That is already on our reservation info.

Does OKW still have smoking?? Our request was also for non-smoking just in case. I have a bad allergy to smoke.

I figured if I had a couple of buildings I could specifically request when we got there, that I would be in ok shape. You all are a great source of info!!

Thanks so much for all the info!!!:goodvibes

No smoking at any Disney resort at WDW or DL. And I think there is none at VB or HHI.

We are going to be at OKW in October and never even seen the resort before, so forgive if this is a stupid question.

If you are staying, at say building 22, or 38, can you cut through the golf course (being respectful of the golfers of course -- my hubbie is one so that would not be an issue) to get to HH, or do you have to stay on the roads/golf cart paths. The roads seem to snake around and are far from a straight path to HH.

No question is stupid. But, no, you are not supposed to cut across the golf course or use the cart paths at any time. And kids aren't supposed to play on it near your villa. You can just hop any bus and it will take you to the Hospitality House as the last pickup for that bus.

When we stayed at OKW we were in Building 13. Doesn't look great when you look at the map but it was perfect for us.

We had a beautful view from our balcony of a golf course, water and daily ducks (they were so cute). Quick walk to the main pool, food and bus.

The number might scare some but we loved it. :thumbsup2

Anywhere you end up you will have a great time - Have fun. :cool1:
