Second vote for Steak n Shake (especially enjoyed caramel turtle shake)
5 Guys Famous Burgers (fav burger place)
Another vote for Margaritaville (great food and fun atmosphere)

I wish I knew what your budget was because it makes a huge difference plus the age of your crew does too.

On International Drive:
Taverna Opa - At Pointe Orlando ($25 - $50 per person, pretty pricey but fun) but it is a wild time with dancing on the tables, music and great food. Like an Italian wedding

Cafe Tu Tu Tango on International Drive has artists and performers like magicians and belly dancers. You order small tapas and share price per item $6 - $10 fun with group, plus kids are often entertained by all the action.

Steak n Shake has the slowest service imaginable. It is mind numbingly slow. We wised up and used the drive through after spending an hour and a half there!

In the same plaza as the steak and shake there is a Mexican restaurant that is really really good. It is very authentic and fantastic service.

They have 5 guys there? They are all over our area as well. I find thier burgers GREASY and very messy.

I do like Margaritaville though.

I was beginning to think I was the only person in America who was completely unimpressed with the burgers at Five Guys. I completely agree with you about their burgers being greasy and messy. And I didn't like their vaunted french fries either. As far as burger chains go, my favorite is Cheeburger Cheeburger, although their Orlando location is not near the attractions.
(I have one in my town though. :) )

My other favorite burger chain is Cheeseburger in Paradise but they don't have any locations in Orlando. :(

We have only ever eaten at the 5 Guys location in Orlando (we don't have them in our area) but don't recall them being overly greasy (of course you don't eat burgers for your health!). It is our favorite burger place in Orlando but we would be very open to suggestions for others' favorite burgers. We have been a bit spoiled by a burger restaurant in San Antonio who on one survery was rated #2 in the nation.

I think DH & I maybe the only 2 people who hated Earl of Sandwich - it is sooo highly recommended here on the Dis but we just found it to be overpriced sandwiches :confused3

I really wish I could recommend Dixie Crossroads - it recently closed in the Orlando area but has wonderful seafood.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango is fabulous.
Great for getting a couple of appetizers for everyone to share.

We just got a Cheeburger Cheeburger as well and I agree. Cheeburger is better than Five Guys for the same price!

We have the same restaurants around here and they are good:

(I can't specifically vouch for the Orlando version though)

Bahama Breeze - best pina coladas!
Carraba's- huge portions
Macaroni Grill- great service if you go early

Maggiano's is also good.
BRIO looks busy all the time but I haven't eaten there yet.

Where is Cafe Tu Tu Tango? Sounds interesting.

I've eaten a couple times at the Brio in Winter Park. Very good Italian, if pricey. Excellent "date" restaurant. I imagine the one at Millenia is equally good.

Speaking of expensive Italian places, Timpano on Sand Lake near Dr Phillips is amazing, tho it emphasizes steaks as much as traditional pasta dishes. Very upscale, with sort of a retro 50s/early 60s vibe (the Rat Pack would have felt right at home). Live jazz in the bar area some nights.

Tu Tu Tango is on I-Drive, a couple blocks south of Sand Lake. It's easy to miss. It's a place that doesn't "feel" like Orlando, which can be a nice change of pace.

I keep on seeing Bahama Breeze being on here :confused3 .....We found it to to have so-so food that was pricy. Atmosphere was nice but service was not.

Thanks for adding an updated thread. I started to read the older one, but restaruants change and new ones are added. I think the updated thread is great. Could we have some recommendations for seafood restaurants please? I think Fulton's Crab House is out of the question this trip. Too pricey!

We just returned from our week at Disney. We ate at Shell's which someone in the older thread had recommended. The New England Clam Chowder was to die for! :woohoo: Hubby is from back East and he said it rivals any he's ever eaten from *home*. I ordered a Seafood Po' Boy that was loaded with white fish...shrimp and clam strips. It was extremely good!

Our favorite off site restaurant was found by accident. We'd left the park late and were hunting for anything opened. We passed Smokey Bones and got a whiff :goodvibes ...did a U turn and back we went. It was OUTSTANDING! We're from KC and we do a lot of our own *Smokin*...so we think we're pretty particular and we found this to be really REALLY good! Try the BBQ Nachos! Yummy!!

Hope this helps!

For great, reasonably priced seafood, I'd definitely second the vote for Shells. I hadn't been there in a few years, but the last time we were in FL we ate there again. It's as good as it ever was and the prices are much better than most of the other seafood restaurants. It's a little out of the way because it's out pretty far on 192 but if you've got a car, it's worth the extra few miles.

Shells Kissimmee Location:
3615 WEST VINE STREET
KISSIMMEE FL 34741
Telephone: 407-933-7757
Fax: 407-933-8933

Location Hours:
Sunday to Thursday: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Friday and Saturday: 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM

Here's a menu link:
Shells Dinner Menu
They don't show prices unfortunately but they're definitely reasonable for a seafood restaurant.

Thanks for the recommendation!! Shells sound great, especially since we are staying at Windsor Hills in Kissimmee. Keep this thread going.. I love it eatpopcorn::
