Best off-site Restaurants 2007/2008

We are leaving for our next visit tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions. We plan on spending a few days out of the parks and look forward to trying some of these new places.

Just wanted to quickly add that we LOVE Ming Court on I-Drive! Beautiful building with beautiful decor and landscaping (love the large koi pond & gardens) lovely entertainment, great food (innovative Oriential food with wok, grill, sushi and dim sum cuisine). It has a nice upscale feel but their prices won't break the bank.

Here is their website: Ming Court

Joe's Crab Shack....playground for the kids....VERY entertaining staff and good food!! Kids and us loved it!

Also...Giordano's (sp?) Pizza...awesome deep dish!

At mall of Millenea I vote for Mimi's Cafe! Great for families. Great prices and large portions.

We went to MiMi's at the Mall of Millenea. The food was great. We had one of the worst servers ever employeed. Our entrees came out before our soups. Then he still tried to charge us for the soups. Never appologized for any of it until he realizes we were "not real happy" and he was likely loosing his tip. We would return as it wal likely our server not paying enough attention and grabbing our soups when they came off the line before another server did. Another server brought us our entrees and when we pointed out to our server that we didn't get our soups, all he said was "I noticed that".

I'm subbing to this thread to get a good idea, since we're staying offsite, where we can find some good, cheap grub. Thanks to everyone for their tips!

Golden Corral for breakfast
Ponderosa for lunch or dinner
Ming Court - best chinese in Orlando
New York China Buffet at the crossroads - best chinese buffet in Orlando
Giordanos - best pizza in Orlando
:thumbsup2

Del Friscos's in Winter Park. It is a little far and a little pricey but well worth it. Zagat review 2008: "the best steak at any restaurant, in any city, at any price." Take I-4 East to Lee Road and turn left, on right.

Chevy's on 535, yummmmm.

Also, the McDonald's Bistro on Sand Lake. I haven't eaten there personally, but have heard great things about it. I believe it has the largest play area for kids, and it has traditional McDonald's food and then "fancy" food.

Chevy's at the Crossroads, Capital Grill (very pricey) but if you're going to splurge without kids this is the place to go.

You are confusing the two McDonalds on Sand Lake (easy to do, I don't think they're even a mile apart).

The one on the corner of I-Drive has the world's largest playland..and is just vile. Dirty, lousy service, and your meal may be interrupted by a time share sales pitch.

The other one is between Turkey Lake and Dr Phillips. It has the "gourmet" sandwiches/pizza/pasta in addition the regular McDs menu. Clean, decent service, but the add-on menu does nothing for me, they should stick to the basics. Still, if you are in the area and craving a Quarter Pounder, that's the one to pick.

Kobe Japanese restaurant is good. They cook in front of you and they give you lots of food. Good entertainment especially for kids. Price is not bad usually around $10 for the chicken dish and steak dish will be a bit higher. You get soup, salad, main dish, ice cream. They are all over Orlando. My Aunt actually knows the owner and the owner only hires chefs that have been trained in Kobe Japan.

Giordano's us the best pizza, if you like the deep dish Chicgo style. I had some while in Chicago this week and it is way better than the other Chicago style pizza I have had.

Mimi's near the corner of John Young and Osceola Parkway - very good, family friendly, but 'nice' not fast food.

Second vote for Steak n Shake (especially enjoyed caramel turtle shake)
5 Guys Famous Burgers (fav burger place)
Another vote for Margaritaville (great food and fun atmosphere)

five guys definately, bob evans, golden corral and cici's. cici's can be good or bad depending on what i don't know. we have been to lbv one and it has been dire, then a couple of days later it was fine!
