Best off site hotel

We've stayed at several of the Harbor hotels and the one that impressed me the most was the Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites. The room was quite large (we had 2 queens and a sofa bed). It was very clean. The sofa bed was already made up when we got there and there were extra blankets and pillows in the closet. The breakfast at the restaurant next door was very good, as far as free hotel breakfasts go. Our most recent stay was in February at the Tropicana. I was not too impressed. It was clean enough, but the room was old and worn and in need of maintenance. The bathroom door didn't close all the way unless you pulled it really hard. Then you had to push to get it open. The light switch over the vanity had to be flipped up and down a few times before the light would come on. The in-room coffee was dreadful! We had a bad experience with billing at the Park Vue a few years ago, so I will not stay there again. Desert Inn and Suites isn't bad. The rooms are a decent size. We stayed in a suite at the Camelot once. We loved the extra space, but the suite is a little pricey for us to stay in on every trip.

I've heard the breakfast is ok, I didn't try it simply because of Captain Kidd's reputation. Just be cautious not to eat there for any other meal.

The Best Western breakfast is served by the hotel in the Captain Cooks building, but in an area separate from the actual restaurant. I have also heard that the regular buffet there is horrible!

Yes, and they have had so many health violations, that even having it served in the same restaurant kind of bothers me.

We had a wonderful stay at Park Vue Inn last May and plan to stay there again on our next trip. The room was clean and updated. Loved the free breakfast which consists of just about every basic breakfast item. There is ice water and coffee in the lobby 24/7 and fresh cookies at night time. There is a gift shop there which has just about everything you would need. Disney items (while not park specific) were also available. There is also a small gym which we didn't use. Closest hotel to Disney gates. I can't say enough good things about this hotel.

I stayed and liked: Both are slightly farther away but still walkable.
Desert Palms Hotel & suites - decent free breakfast, free parking, free wifi - it's the Secret hotel on Groupon. You can see the back of carsland from the breakfast area. I liked that you only had to cross 1 street to get to the entrance but still a long walk if you have little ones. OK if you have able bodied adults.
Marriott Residence Inn Maingate on Clementine - its seems farther but still walkable. Big rooms, free breakfast, free parking, free wifi, ART picks up on site.
