When we took our first trip we stayed at the Howard Johnson, entertainment rate in October 2010 with a Disney view for $79 a night.

Our oldest daughter will be joining us on this trip for May or June 2013. Looking for suggestions on hotels for family of 5 - either cheaper hotels where we could get 2 rooms, or larger rooms to accomodate all 5 of us.

thanks in advance.

We are a family of five, and we have always stayed in just one room---but I always make sure there is a rollaway bed option....or a sofabed or daybed.

Howard Johnsons has a rollaway bed option, I believe.

If you need more room, I know that the Embassy Suites offers more space and usually gets pretty good reviews. I haven't stayed there, but our neighbors did. It has a nice atrium with fish and some waterfalls in the middle of the hotel.

We are a family of 6 and like the RI Maingate..2 bathrooms big deal for us.

We like the kids suites at Hojos or the 3 queen room at Park Vue Inn

I'm trying to decide, too, and am leaning towards a kid suite at the Portofino. The embassy suites would be my top choice if they were in walking distance, as their free food is always awesome.

Our favorite so far has been Hampton Inn. The suite fit my family of six very well and I loved the hot breakfast it saved us time and money.

The truth is that there are lots of options and not really a clear cut answer. Lots of folks will give you lots of good advice.

We have stayed several times in the mini-suites at the Best Western Park Place Inn. The BWPPI is the closest off-site hotel to the DLR gates and the second closest of all hotels - the GCH being the closest - but the GCH is variable based on where your room is. So in many cases the BWPPI is the absolute closest. However, there are a number of others that are very close too.

BWPPI is nothing fancy. Their mini-suites have two queen beds and a couchbed queen, plus a mini-fridge and a microwave. Only one bathroom. Definitely works better with bigger families with younger kids.

It is clean and quiet. The pool is small but we have used it a lot.

Again, I am not saying that BWPPI is the best choice but it worked for us when our kids were younger. Today it would not work for us.
