Hi everyone, we are debating going to Kona Cafe for breakfast on our free, non-park morning. However, we have heard a lot of less than stellar reviews lately and wonder if it’s worth making the trip.

We already have breakfast at Boma planned one morning and would prefer to go somewhere else. We LOVED the buffet at The Wave on our last trip so that is a consideration, but would like to try somewhere different. Should we stick with Kona or try something else?

I love Kona! Are you sure the reviews were for breakfast and not other meals? Its pretty hard to screw up breakfast. GO for the Pineapple-macadamia pancakes. YUM!!

Personally, I was underwhelmed by The Wave. It was on a departure day though, so it's possible my sadness that we were leaving has clouded that experience a bit.

I have not been to Kona for a few years and back then it was amazing, so it's sad to her so many negative reviews coming up.

My fave resort breakfast are Boma, which you have already and 'Ohana.

Hmmm, I've gone to The Wave on some departure days and found that it cheered me up a bit!

We like the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's cheerful and relaxing. I love the benedict flight. We all seem to have different go to meals for the GFC, but the whole family really enjoys it.

We like the Grand Floridian Cafe. We had a very nice breakfast there a few weeks ago.

If my choices were Kona or The GFC I would pick GFC , the atmosphere , food and service always seemed better there to me . Then you can take a leisurely walk around the property and then take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom :)

If it's open that day, see if you can get in for high tea at the GF. It's amazing!!

We have always enjoyed our breakfast at Kona and usually end our trip there. Those pineapple macadamia pancakes are amazing! I do also love the Wave for their sweet potato pancakes. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I enjoyed the food and mimosa flight at Kona. My server was the issue - her attitude towards me was more annoyed that she had to wait on me than anything. But on reflection and watching her with groups...I think she was just ticked off that she had to wait on a table of one. Little did she know I generally tip MORE than 20%...but only if it's earned. And she didn't.

With a group, you'll probably be fine even if she is your server. (I cannot remember her name, unfortunately.)

So many good breakfasts, so little time. We like GF Cafe, Ale & Compass and nothing beats the skillet at WCC!

My favorite non park breakfast is 1900 PF at the GF. The food is very good for a buffet and the Mad Hatter is absolutely hilarious. I also discovered the Wave a couple of years ago killing time before leaving and found it to be a very pleasant surprise and have been there twice since.

The breakfast skillet at Wilderness Canyon Cafe. If paying OOP, it is an excellent value (for Disney) and the food is good and cooked fresh. Love their biscuits and gravy.

Kona was the best breakfast I had all trip (I went mid-July 2018). My server was excellent (a young man whose name started with a J). I had the macadamia nut and pineapple pancakes with both sausage and bacon because I couldn't choose and I can still taste them. They're huge and I couldn't finish my plate. The fresh pot of Kona coffee is out of this world, you MUST try it, one way or another. It's fruity and lovely. They've also got POG juice (I believe it's called Lilikoi juice at Kona) and it's nice and quiet there. I'll definitely go back to try their entire breakfast menu.
