Best NON-Disney Pizza?

We will be back at WDW in 4 weeks, and I'm looking for advice on where to order pizza from to our room (staying at POP). We've had Disney pizza many times, and our family really does NOT like Disney pizza (had it in the parks, had it delivered to the room... bad each time). Not looking for a national chain, either (no Papa Johns, Little Caesars, Pizza Hut). Does anyone have a favorite "local" Orlando pizza shop that delivers to Disney hotels?

Giordano's. This is a "local" chain in the greater Chicagoland area that also has three locations in Florida. The Lake Buena Vista location delivers to WDW resorts. Here is a link to Giordano's Web Site . Although they feature Chicago-style deep dish pizza in some of their advertising, we're fans of thin crust and have found Giordano's to be better than any of the pizzas offered by the various Disney restaurants. We've enjoyed delivery to the BoardWalk Villas on a number of occasions.

Funny, both suggestions are Chicago Style pizza. I really like Giordanos. Best Chicago Style pizza outside of my home town (in Chicago, I prefer Gino's East).

Giordano's is delicious. I've had it in Chicago and Orlando. I'm glad to hear you had it delivered to BWV.

Seems like Flipper's is the pizza delivery chain of choice in the Kissimmee area. Husband (Pizza King) likes it. Had one problem with their service so make sure they will come to your room or find out if you have to meet them somewhere in the lobby. Had a horrible cold pizza because the delivery guy just sat out there (not at a Disney resort) for a half hour while we called the place to find out what the heck happened. But that's an option. Not bad stuff. Also has subs and stuff.

Flippers----for sure! I discovered this place while working in my Sandlake office and make a point to eat there every now and then....BF lives in Celebration, so I try to go to the one in Old Town---sit outside and people watch.

Giordano's is very good. we're getting one here soon in our Tampa 'burb. Flipper's is also a good choice in the Orlando area.

Thanks for the Giordanos web site. Have heard so much about it and had planned on having pizza on one of our low key nights. We are staying at Windsor Hills and I just called to confirm the Kissimmee location delivers to WH. Doesn't get any better than that!

No website that I know of, but the number in Lake Buena Vista is 407-396-1202. And I do have a menu in my desk.

Traditional medium (12") runs $7.99, large (16") is $10.99. Toppings are $1.09 or $1.69. Add $2 for deep dish. Have various Italian dishes, subs and wings, too.

Disney or the area isnt the place i would go to have a good pizza or even expect to have a good slice of pizza....Coming from NYC i would never even buy a slice of pizza somewhere else

We tried to order a delivery from Giordano's last year (staying at Polynesian). The phone rang eternally and when someone finally answered we were told to call a different location because the location we phoned did not deliver to WDW. No problem, we telephone the number supplied and were told that Giordano's does not deliver to the Polynesian. We were asked to give our hotel phone # and were then told they didn't service that resort. I see a post above had delivery at WL--what gives? We had to settle for Domino's when we really wanted to try something different.

Does anyone from the area have a suggestion on how we might arrange a delivery on our next visit? What were we doing wrong?

We had no problem with our delivery to WL. It took about 45 minutes from the time I called and I met the delivery girl in the Lobby. That was October 2006.

We're a little more "open" to trying new things. While NY style is our favorite, we have found traditional wood-fired pizza to be a wonderful change every now and then, and we also love to have a good ole deepdish Chicago pie every now and then, too.

Thanks for the info from everyone who responded. There are literally hundreds of listing in the Orlando area for pizza, most of them are for national chains. It will be fun to try a "local" place when we arrive in a couple of weeks, so we're still open for suggestions.

Anyone tried Hungry Howies or Fratello's Pizza in Orlando? Still looking for some good suggestions.
