We will be at disney 4 1/2 days may 26 - 30th. Monday through Friday. Wednesday and Friday are grad nights. What would be the best nights to catch the shows? We have dd6, dd4, ds2. Is it even worth it with there ages?. We have a fireworks view balcony room at hojo. Thank you

Best night for shows are the grad nights.

How should I modify my DLR touring if visiting on a grad night?

Grads can show up any time during the day but tend to arrive in the afternoon and evening. Reports vary but grads do contribute to extra crowding but not in any overwhelming manner. Grads are teenagers and like all teenagers they can be loud, use profanity and be especially affectionate with their dates. Some guests say they do not notice grads very much while others have reported experiences with grad significantly impacting their visit. Here are some tips:

o If you have young children who are not accustomed to some of the crude language they might be exposed to, you may want to modify the hours you visit. Arrive extra early that day and then leave early.

o Since crowds will increase a bit later in the day as grads arrive, if you want to stay in the parks that is a good time to arrange for a longer table service dinner and to see shows. So plan for Fantasmic or World of Color on grad nights. This will keep you out of some of the lines that may get longer than normal because of the grads coming in. If you are on a multi-day trip then use your evenings that are not grad nights to go on more rides.

I'm less convinced that seeing WoC is worth it given your children's ages. If you do opt to see the show, I would make sure to get a FP and I would not go on Monday (9/26) because that is Memorial Day. One of the other weekday nights might be better (Tues, Wed, or Thur). I know some folks really love the show, but to me, if you cannot see the water surface it's not really worth seeing. To see the water surface, you either need to be tall or get there super early to get a rail spot. If you do go see WoC, I would plan on being there at least 60-90 minutes before the show starts.

In terms of fireworks, even if you have balcony view, I would still make an effort to see them from Main Street (or in the park). I'm not sure how much of the castle effects you'll be able to see from your room. This includes things like Tinkerbell and Dumbo flying and the projections on the castle.

thank you. we were planning on staying one night and actually watching the fireworks from the park. What about fantasmic? too scary? it looks like the one i would really want to see if we chose between it or woc.

In terms of Fantasmic...I think it varies by child. It's hard to say at what age the kids won't be scared, because it varies by child. I would recommend watching it on YouTube or something like that to see if you think your kids would be okay or scared. I would check out the sections after the villains decide to take over and the confrontation with Maleficent. It is also worth noting that the music is loud and the lighting is low in the area. My gut instinct says that a typical (at least typical based on the kids I know) 2 and 4 year old will be scared. The 6 year old could go either way.

I'm taking my 4 year old later this month. I showed him WoC on YouTube, and while it's obviously not the same on TV versus live, he was less than interested; even after a minute.

To add that I'd have to hold him for the duration of the show, I am likely going to opt out of WoC. I'm sure it's a great show, just not in the cards for this trip at this age. The "standing" element is tough.

However, showing him Fantasmic, he loved it. We're doing the dessert package on June 1 which is not a grad night, but is the last day before SoCal blockouts come into effect. Lesser of two evils.

Yeah after watching it on YouTube I think my littlest would be terrified :( oh well. Just one less thing to make a wait strategy for and one more reason to tell the eh we have to come back again when there older :rolleyes1
