Best Movie This Year?

What constitutes this year--some of you are naming some from 2008--if so, Sex and the City! Otherwise, probably Harry Potter

I'm torn, my heart says Harry Potter (and my Ron Weasley crush LOL), but like another poster, missing a few things from the book. I can't believe I am saying this, but my answer has to be Star Trek.

I have a few favorites from this year so far...
Up!
Coraline
Harry Potter
Watchmen
The Hangover

And I may be getting ahead of myself, but I assume I'll be adding Inglourious Basterds (Tarantino can do no wrong :worship:), Where the Wild Things Are and New Moon to that list later this year.

Up!!! Seven trips, and I wish it were more. I've already decided I'm getting a Blu Ray player in time for the home release of this one.

Honestly, I'm a Pixar fan, and even I'm surprised at how much I LOVE this movie! If Up doesn't get a (REAL) Best Picture Oscar nomination, I may have to fly my own house to Hollywood in protest. And please-oh-please, an Oscar for Michael Giacchino's score! As I said in another thread just now, I've got the soundtrack playing. Carl and Russell are "Walking the House." ("Russell, if you don't hurry up, the tigers will eat you." "There's no tigers in South America! Zoology!")

The Hangover...funniest, best and most clever movie I have seen in a long, long, long time:thumbsup2

Star Trek definitely. Will see Harry Potter this weekend, but Up was wayyyyy up there.

Up and Star Trek tie for first, followed closely by Harry Potter

1. Up! Loved it, saw it 3 times.
2. Harry Potter. Realy well done!
3. Watchmen. Watched it yesterday and it was awesome.

So far this year -

Adventureland - great 80's nostalgia
Watchmen - awesome cinematography - loving the opening credits montage
Hangover - funniest movie I've seen in a long time

Wow! Looks like we need to see Star Trek & The Hangover!

I've seen quite a few films this year on DVD but the only ones that have really stuck in my head are 2008, I think. Slumdog Millionaire, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Milk, and Ben Button were all standouts that I've watched on DVD in 2009.
