So I've been to Disney many times and am planning many more trips, but want to get it down to a specific month I like best to travel.

I've been in -
January - love it, went in 2014 low crowds, but a little chilly and couldn't really visit the pools.
March - went in 1999, weather is really nice, but spring break is rolling in and crowds are getting high toward Easter
May - went this year in 2016 Memorial Day. Heat was terrible, 90's every day. Crowds weren't bad.
August - went in 2009, heat was unbearable. Crowds were definetely low.
November - planning this for 2017, can't wait. Hopefully crowds are low and weather is still nice.

Never been any other month, but really would like to know experiences. Definetely want a April, October and December trip in the future.

My opinion:

Best months for crowds are September and January
Best months of weather are March and November

Crowds are much more bearable when weather is nice, so November is our favorite.

We normally go in the beginning of March for the Flower and Garden or mid to late September for the Food and Wine at Epcot. Both months seem to yield great weather and low crowds. You may experience a chilly morning or night in March but that's nothing compared to the cold in good ol' New York state. Let's all be honest here... we'd all trade a day at work for a sweltering hot August day in Central Florida at WDW, 100% of time!

November for us. We usually get FD and the Christmas decorations are mostly up. The weather is also good.

I think the best for us has been October. We went one time in November and it was unfortunately very wet. We have had consistently good weather in October without tremendous crowds.

November. Best month IMO. Low crowds, fabulous weather, christmas decorations. Just wonderful.

I want to try either March or May.

I agree with November. Went right around Veterans Day last year, fabulous weather & very reasonable crowds except for Epcot. F & WF made touring WS impossible even during the day during the week. Loved the Festival but didn't get to really tour around my beloved WS.

For us, the first two weeks of September are far and away the best weeks to go to WDW. Florida just isn't Florida to us if it is not hot, and we love our summers. However, since you note that your August trip was unbearably hot to you I assume that you feel differently and are willing to deal with more moderate crowds to escape the heat.

So, with that in mind I suggest that you try the week after Thanksgiving. Crowds are low, temperatures are much cooler (but with a much lower risk of the cold spells that frequent January trips), and all of the holiday festivities and decorations are in full swing.

Late October -- early November. Hurricane season is usually over and Food and Wine is often running then.

We always seem to go in October as that is our daughters birthday month and we go to celebrate her birthday (October 5th). Crowds are moderate, weather still hot and a bit steamy, but not unbearable. Plus, you have the MNSSHP to got to!! Everything is decorated for fall, and if you ride the Haunted Mansion during MNSSHP, you're in for a treat! All cast member are dressed in a haunted manor. So much fun! You also have the food and wine festival going on, which is so nice to experience! We are going for the first time in the beginning of December this year, so I am really excited to see the Christmas decorations!! Happy planning!

ANY!! :rotfl2: Seriously though, we like to go in the spring, like March/April time frame. Not usually too hot yet and not too cold!

Any month with a vowel.

We enjoyed November because the Christmas decorations were up and the kids could swim in the pool.

Our first trip with kids was the first week of June and the weather was hot, but not too bad and we caught the tail end of Flower and Garden. It was so beautiful. I'm not sure the festival still runs that long.

i am a fan of december. i cannot stand the heat, i would never go to anything, just laze by the pool and try not to move.

i love how beautifully everything is decorated in december. because i have only been once and it was in december, you can take that with a grain of salt!
but when re-booking our next trip, i was thinking it would be almost a disappointment NOT to see all the gorgeous trees and decor in the resorts and parks.

we like september....but we like it HOT!!! we have done january a few times, but my kids like swimming so they were disappointed it was only hot enough to swim once last january trip....

also something to consider (and the reason i will never do january again..haha) we got hit with the flu BAD our last january trip.....daughter and husband both had it while we were there....we went to the parks a couple days, and the whole time i was freaking out at how many surfaces there are to touch at disneyworld! haha we went through an entire bottle of purel!!!!! ;)

Over the years after trying a few different months we found early December to be our favorite time. Mix the holiday decorations with cool temperatures and moderate crowds.

We usually go Early May or Late October.
May - Flower and Garden and great weather. Warm but hasn't gotten Summer hot yet.
October - Halloween, Food & Wine and great weather. Warm and is already out of the Summer heat.
Crowds during both are very manageable.

We've always gone in February, and I haven't seen it mentioned yet, so I'll throw my hat in for that month. To me, the most important thing is crowds. And Feb seems to fit the bill. Its cooler, but we like cooler weather for theme park touring. Swimming is not as important, since it can be done anywhere. We're park people, all day. So, cool weather and no crowds = February!!

Almost every year we go in March. The weather is beautiful, not too hot but still very nice, and in early to mid March the crowds are great. In March 2015 we didn't even have to use some of our Fastpasses because the lines were so short!
