IF we go Value we've already decided on Pop. Still deciding on which moderate to chose. Im leaning more towards CB my Sis says POFQ :Pinkbounc We need 3 rooms. 7 adults 2 children. 5 & 2 years old.
Birnbaum's book says CB, best for kids, yet Ive heard lots of people say PO is better?
My Mom has a hard time walking long distances, so we need something convenient to the pool/foodcourt/bus stops...

Thanks! :flower:

My experience at the CBR is that there's a lot of walking and a lot of circling the resort on the bus....

I think the CBR was too big.

I've never stayed at the POR, so good luck with your decision.

Never stayed at CBR, but I did stay at POR. I can not say enought good things about it. The atmosphere, the location, the pool, the boat to DTD. The path to POFQ. 2 awesome food courts- one at POR and one at POFQ.

It's a great resort with kids, and a great resort for families.

Hope I helped.

I stayed at CBR before and I thought the same, Its nice but its BIG...
The more I think about it, maybe we should just stay at Pop Century? I loved it and I bet my niece and nephew will enjoy the atmosphere at Pop better than one of the moderates. :jumping1:

Tons of walking at the CBR. May not be ideal for your mother. The resorts has its own buses taking riders within the resort -- that should tell you how big it is!

I've heard the POR is great for kids. Lots of cool things to do, including fishing -- they have their own fishing hole. And there's a ferry that takes you to DTD; that has always intrigued me. The pool at POR is nice too, I hear. If you stay in the Magnolia Bend area or Oak Manor, you should be close to just about everything, including food court and bus stop.

The CSR pool is awesome! One of the best onsite, IMO. But there also is quite a bit of walking there. If you stay near the pool, you will be far away from the food court. If you stay near the food court, you may be quite a trek from the pool area. Best bet is to request Cabana building 9B or 9A to be more "in the middle".

When we were thinking of moderates, it was down to CSR or POR. And that was after doing an incredible amount of research, including reading these boards!

The big advantage is that POR and POFQ are sister resorts so you share amenities. You have the water activities, boat to DTD, 3 different themes and two themed pools. The FQ gives you the advantage of limiting your Mom's walking and I think the FQ pool is perfectly themed for the younger set.

We have loved our stays at POR and have enjoyed our walks around FQ. I could not recommend CBR.

We stayed at POFQ in Oct 2004 with two kids age 4 & 8. It was fantastic! The resort was not too big. The building we were in was right beside the pool although we were on the side facing away from the pool. It was very convenient to walk to the pool and to the food court. There is only one bus stop at POFQ although the bus is shared with POR. We were always the first on and first off the bus which was convenient. The pool at POFQ is alot of fun for little ones. My 8 year old loved the sea serpent slide and my 4 year old loved playing in the kiddie pool. We also enjoyed the boat ride to DTD. I couldn't recommend it enough!!! :flower:

We loved the POFQ! If for not the fact we try something new everytime I would go back in a second! CSR, here we come!

Glad I found this thread... I have ressie at POFQ and have a 4 & 7 yr old... After making the ressies I started doubting if they would really enjoy the theme at POFQ but thought the pool would more than make up for it... So POFQ is fun for kids?? Or would POR be better??

I know our DS who was 5 at the time LOVED the dragon slide! I LOVED POFQ! So quant and yet fun. everything close by. Catch the boat or bus. It just was a very nice experience. We were in building #5 by the pool.

I strongly agree with those about the CBR and being too big. It was our favorite before kids because the walking was a nice feature for us. Now with a double stroller, 2 kids, and all the baggage associated, going to the food court here for a quick snack was an event!!! We visited POFQ during our stay and it seemed like the place for us to try next time. The pool looked great for the kids and close to rooms and food court. Lots of charm here at this resort! I also think the CSR is great but you do have so more walking here but pool area is great here also. Have fun whatever you decide!! Sharon

So should I request a room in Bldg 5 for the best location?? Any certain one or floor or facing direction????

I would say POR for several reasons.
First, it's fairly easy to get a centrally located bldg that would lessen your walking.
Second, trundle beds in case you need extra space.
Third, a great pool with a slide and a short walk to POFQ to use their spectacular serpent pool.
Fourth, a tremendous game room, great for rainy nights or some wind down fun before bed.
Fifth other outdoor activities, surrey bikes, mouse boats, fishin' hole, looking for bunnies, ducks, lizards etc. in Alligator Bayou.
Finally, a decent food court, a surprising value in the sit down restaurant category; Boatwrights, and lounge entertainment that kids can see.

Port Orleans FQ is the best! Riverside is nice, but my ultimate favorite is FQ. My fiance and I also stayed at Caribbean Beach, however we felt it was really long to walk...and we're in our mid-late 20's in fairly good shape! I also though the people were nicer at FQ, waiting in less lines at FQ, and the busses were faster! We liked the location of FQ better too!
Have a great time!

CS does have a great pool and playground and is often overlooked....

i love POR though. I've stayed at POFQ too and while it was nice, we just like the theming of POR much better. Both are nice, offer wonderful pools and food courts. Plus the extras like the fishing hole etc. Walking isn't that bad if you request the right room/building. They have always met our requests.

CBR is very spread out----lots of walking.

I've stayed @ at CBR, Dixie Landing & just back (2/5-2/12/05) from CSR. I loves CSR the best. The pool & the playground were a BIG hit with my DD
5 1/2 & DS 2 1/2. DH also liked the pool. The food court was WONDERFUL, they had different stations, so everyone can get something different. The have a Wok station, fresh pasta station, kids meal section, made to order pizza station, grill station for burgers & chicken & a deli/salad area. We all could have something different & I don't think I ordered a meal for my DS once, he picked alittle from everyones plates (they give you a good amount of food). The resort is spread out but, your walking around either the lake or my flowing fountains with Mexican music playing it was beautiful :cool1: My vote would be for CSR
