I posted on the resort thread but didn't get a lot of replies, thought I would try over here with the Moms. Please help me decide where to stay with my four year old boy!
I am torn between:
Port Orleans French Quarter (have stayed there before, my sister swears by it, and I like the idea of short walk to food court and pools)
CBR (the pirate themed pool looks really cool, and the pirate cruise, but I'm worried about the walking)
CSR (again, it looks really pretty and I think I would like the food court, but the pool looks better for older kids)

Are there other moderates I should be considering?

thanks for any advice!!

:confused3I can completely relate!:confused3

I am trying to plan a trip for my DS 3rd bday and finding the right resort for us has been super hard! As of now we have a reservation at the CBR. I am hoping that it is the best fit for us. It is really hard to decide. We want some place that offers everything on our list.

Our wants are: Close to MK and epcot, dining options, nice (kid friendly pool), theme my lil man can enjoy, PRICE..... to name a few.

I wish I could give you some great advice. But I am in the same boat!

In the last 9 months we have stayed at both POFQ and CBR. They are both wonderful resorts and enjoyed our stays at both. For our 2 and 3 year old though, if given the choice hands down it would be CBR. If your 4 year old loves pools and waterslides, he won't be able to get enough of the children's pool at CBR and the main pool also has the zero entry section. The rooms were also a little bigger at CBR. The walking wasn't a problem at all, at least for us. We went at the pace of our 3 year old and it took a bit over 5 minutes to get from our section which was Aruba building 55 to the pool and Port Royale.
While CBR doesn't have the wonderful boat to Downtown Disney which we loved, it was a very short drive and it was also well situated being a short drive to The Boardwalk and also to the Beach Club if you decide to do the character meals at Cape May. It is also in the Epcot section for resorts, so not a long trip to and from. The beaches were also nice, even though you can't go into the water, it was nice for the girls to play in the sand (we had some sandtoys with us), and just relax in the hammocks. POFQ was smaller and was just a couple of minutes to walk over to the pool or the food court. It was very quiet and the walk to Riverside was really nice.
They were both great stays for us, but again, if we had to select something that would be a great value and have the wow factor for our children, it would be CBR. I have no experience with CSR. Good luck with your choice!

We are booked for September at CBR. The pool and pirate theme room was the changing factor. I was booked at POR but kept thinking it wasn't the right fit. I have read from many threads that the walk at CBR is way overblown! Everyone says that from Trinidad South where the pirate rooms are it's probably 6-7 minute walk. Not bad at all. I just think that CBR is more kid friendly and I think my kids are going to love the pirate theme. They are only little for so long! Might as well enjoy it! ;)

I'd go for POR French Quarter! I think that the pool and theme are awesome and I love the fact that everything is so close. After a full day in the parks, I don't want to walk a long way to get my mug refilled or grab a snack at the food court, especially with a little person in tow. 6-7 minutes each direction is a LONG distance to me, maybe not to others...but I am one tired person at the end of a Disney day. I also like the fact that you can take a boat over to DD and (correct me if I'm wrong) PORFQ is the 1st stop for the park busses.

Of those you listed, I've only been to POFQ, but I can say that my kids thoroughly enjoyed that waterslide. Also, parking, walk to food etc. was very convenient. However from others' descriptions of CBR I can see that you have a tough choice!

Love POFQ but for a four year old I would say CBR. My four year old loved it. He kept saying he wanted to go back to his blue house. LOL We stayed in Martinique and he loved the nemo room. The pool is really great for little ones. The walk was not bad we were not preffered but only had about a 5-7 minute walk to old port royale and from our bus stop. Best bus service we have ever had on any disney trip.

I also love the waterslide at POFQ, but it isn't a slide a young child can use on their own. A parent would have to be at the bottom to catch them. You wouldn't have that worry with the slides at the Pirate ship splash pad at CBR. You would also need an adult to catch any young children going down the slide at the main pool at CBR.

We stayed at CBR 2 years ago when my youngest was 1. We loved it, but now that she is 3 and there are 5 of us we had to move to POR. Luckily my parents decided to come so we have to get two rooms anyway so now we are back to staying at CBR. The new pool and kids water slide were the deciding factors. My kids will have so much fun there!

I think the next time we go as a family we're going to stay at the pirate themed room at CBR.

The best thing about WDW with a 4 y/o is that they are not discriminating resort guests! They are happy with any pool or slide, don't care about walking distances or bus waits, and any restaurant is a good one to them! :thumbsup2

Unless your child has stayed at the other resorts to compare them with, he'll be obliviously happy wherever you choose to stay.
Pick the resort that appeals to you.

I agree! Much closer for little tired legs!
