Okay- so we still can't decided on which moderate- it's only 1 day- LOL

We are spending the day swimming- followed by marshmallows and the resort movie.

Which moderate has the best pool for a 5 and 6 year old? They love water slides but aren't swimmers yet so I would like a nice splash area too.

CBR would be my choice. I think the pool is awesome with a fun pirate theme and there's also a kids splash play area :).

Thanks everyone! We were leaning toward Port Orleans but the pictures make Caribbean's pool look so much better!

I would vote for CBR. But I will say that while the Splash Zone area is awesome, they were pretty strict about height maximums so a 5 and 6 year old may or may not be short enough to play in that area. My 6 year old was a little over the limit but because we were there with young twins they allowed him to stay. They were making a lot of others leave though. That area is for kids under 48 inches.

The rest of the pool area is still pretty cool though.

I would say overall CSR has the best pool. It has the best waterslide by far and the biggest hot tub on WDW property.

CBR has a nice pool as well, with an excellent kiddies pool.

POR and POFQ are not even close. Their pools are no comparison to CSR or CBR.

Another plus for CBR since it sounds like you will be hanging there in the evening. You can see and hear Illuminations fireworks from the bridge/OPR.

For OP's purposes, though, it is nowhere near the best. Note that OP wants the following:

They love water slides but aren't swimmers yet so I would like a nice splash area too.
CSR fails here, badly. It's got no dedicated water play area, and the waterslide comes out in deeper water than is suitable for a non-swimmer.

The new POFQ area is lovely: http://www.portorleans.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1703#p6991
CBR has the pirate boat.

CBR gets my vote. Pirate area was awesome when our son was tall enough (he just hit 48 inches so he doesn't know he's outgrown it yet.....) And the waterslide was nice too. Definitely a plus being able to see the Illuminations fireworks from there as well.
And a nice relaxing atmosphere for hanging at the resort in the evening.

Overall the best moderate pool is CSR BUT it does not meet your criteria.

You need to book CBR or POFQ.

CBR is a zero entry pool and has a splash area but it is a larger spread out pool deck.

POFQ has a brand new splash area and the pool slide is completely visible for you to see them on it but no zero entry.

I would book the one that meets your price and theme.

CBR for zero entry and excellent splash pad

However, I know CSR has life jackets (the others likely do too). You can always put them in the vests so they can swim in deeper water and use the pool slide.
