Hi Everyone,

I need your help. My sister is getting married this summer and they are going to spend the bulk of their honeymoon on Sanibel Island. They have decided to add a weekend at WDW to their trip and asked me to help them plan since I am the family expert. (-:

The problem is that I have only stayed on property once in all of my years of going to WDW so I need some help picking out the best resort for them.
I looked at prices online and I think the moderate resorts are in line for what they would want to pay.

Give me your opinions/advice about which moderate you would pick on your honeymoon? They are both 35 years old, love to have fun and have some drinks, and neither have been to WDW in 10+ years.

Thanks for your help,
Julie

CSR gives you the most for the money. They have a few amenities that the other mods do not like full menu room service, a spa (couples massage), salon, and fitness center. They also have great transportation and a terrific pool and slide. CSR has live entertainment at the new Rix Lounge. 21 and over after 9pm.

POR! We love that resort. My girlfriend's son was married 2 weeks ago and she gave them a 5 night stay at the POR and they loved it. Had a drink every night at the bar and listened to the piano player.

I second Nick's suggestion of POR. The resort has very romantic paths to walk in the evening with wonderful landscaping. The River Roost has a great evening show with piano player. It is a ton of fun!! :)

CSR! They have four lounges at CSR, to go along with all the deluxe lite amenities. The upscale food court has better food offerings. Try the margaritas or daiquiri's with the 151 on top. Visit Francisco at the pool bar.

Julie,
My fiancé and I just decided to add two days at WDW onto our honeymoon as well. We will be taking a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale on a Sunday, but flying down to WDW on Friday. We are going to stay at POR. We just stayed there in November and had an incredible trip. We love the ambiance of the resort. The landscaping is incredible and we took several quiet walks around the resort. We found it very romantic. I am sure whatever your sister chooses, they will have a great time. If your sister would like to see any of our pictures or has any questions, PM me.

:-) We cannot wait to go back.

We find the CSR to be very romantic, especially at night when the sun has gone down and the lights are on. My DH and I like taking a stroll around the entire resort, around the lake, through all the fountains at the Casitas buildings. We enjoy sitting in the hot tub just the two of us which we have often been able to do. DH offered to take me to splurge and take me to the Poly this year as we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. I told him no, that I am quite happy staying at the CSR again...I love it that much.

Either of the two PO resorts would be great, but I think POFQ would be better suited for honeymooners. It has more of a New Orleans feel which I think is a little more adult. Both resorts have the boat to DTD, a bonus which they are the only resorts to offer. There they can try out several different clubs and restaurants. Both POR and POFQ have the horse drawn carriage rides, which is a very romantic way to enjoy the beauty of both resorts. As for live entertainment, I think the jazz player at POFQ would be a better choice for honeymooners than the guy at POR, who puts on more of a corny, family sing-along type of show. JMHO! But you can't go wrong with either, as well as CBR and CSR for that matter. Some help I am :rotfl2:

I would definitely say that POFQ wold be the most romantic for a honeymoon. It is just beautiful and the music they play all the time is great! :)

POR would be my vote. It's a truly beautiful resort with a lot of romantic spots. It's also very laid back and relaxing, and you can't beat the boat to DTD for a little night life!

:flower3:

I like P.O.F.Q., Just make sure you pay the extra for the king bed. I'm sure being on their honeymoon they would want that.

CSR!! Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Give the hammocks on the beach a try too.

We honeymooned at POFQ in 2001 and it was great! King bed a must...pool is awesome and the lounge is really nice at night. Also, they have boat transportation which is really romantic at sunset. If you book a honeymoon package make sure they offer the POFQ with honeymoon dinner at Yachtmans steakhouse and the private boat ride-we had that-and it was so beautiful. You'll get a table right next to the window facing the water and its really intimate with complimentary champagne and your own exclusive menu personalized with the date-which was later in our hotel room. It was so nice. And we were on a tight budget.:lovestruc

We prefer CSR over the other mods. It's like having a vacation within a vacation. The resort is very lovely, especially at night when it is all lit up. It's gorgeous to walk around, over to the bridge and sit on a hammock watching the lights shimmer off the lake. There is plenty to do for a young couple. Spa, night club, fitness center and more. They will love it!

I've visited many of the moderate resorts but the only moderate that I've stayed at was PORRS. It was actually the first time I've ever stayed on property and it was back when it was called Dixie Landings. I thought it was absolutely beautiful- especially at night. Walking back to our room at night was so nice. And the boat ride to Downtown Disney is so romantic. I would highly recommend PORRS for their honeymoon.

I might be wrong, but in all the research I've done for my Honeymoon, I don't think Disney offers Honeymoon packages anymore. I think the last time they offered one was in 2003. They were amazing packages though. :) If I am wrong, let me know, because I would definitely book one.

I would suggest one of the Port Orleans resorts as well. I'm planning on splitting my stay for my honeymoon and decided to do PO as my moderate. I love the pictures of both halves. I think I've decided to do POR, with a request in for Magnolia Bend. The Plantation style houses are gorgeous. Also, the boat to DTD is nice. It's a nice addition to the transportation, because all the other Moderates only have bus transportation everywhere. I also like the proximity to DTD, because if we decide to do the Boardwalk, or dinner at another resort one night we can just get on a bus to DTD and then take a bus or boat from DTD to Port Orleans even after all the parks have closed. (this is important to me, because when I'm going the park hours are pretty restricted...as it's low season) You could do the same with all the other resorts, but PO is closer which makes for a shorter transfer.

We've been to all 4 and this would be our order:
1) CSR
2) CBR
3) POFQ
4) POR

The port orleans resorts would trail far behind the other two though. We ended up at POR last visit (Feb) because it was a last minute trip and the only mod available and ended up leaving after a day because we hated it so much. But obviously others enjoy it so I guess everyone will like different things. Best of luck.

I hope this link works:

there are plenty of honeymoon packages they offer, but I don't think any would really be any sort of a "deal." Just the same packages they offer everyone else.

Wow, thanks so much for all of the responses! I am really torn between CSR and POFQ. I actually just realized that I stayed at POFQ back when it was called Dixie Landings too- this was the only time I have ever stayed on property and I remember that we all loved it.
I am going to mull over this a bit more and will let you know when I make a decision. We have decided that our wedding gift to them will be to pay for the room for the weekend so she told me to make the final decision. Yay!
