Which MK resort do you like best and why? We will be traveling with a 14 month old baby and plan to spend most of our time in the Magic Kingdom.
Can you walk to the MK from the GF or Poly? How is the boat service from the WL?

No, you can't walk to MK from the Poly or GF. You must either take the monorail or small boat.

I have stayed at the CR & WL with our small child. We really enjoyed our CR stay, however, there was no kiddie pool for Brittany to splash around in. It was quiet & there were lots of food options. We were in the north wing & could see the fireworks from our window. Really lovely stay. This is the only resort that you can walk to MK from.

Last Sept we stayed at WL. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW! It has to be one of the most beautiful resort I've ever seen. It is set in a "forest" of beautiful trees. You really do feel like you are in the great NW. Brittany especially LOVED splashin in the kiddie pool. We spend a LOT more time at the resort than we ever do. We found the transportation excellent. The larger boat (can roll your stroller on) goes WL/FW/MK. It generally was around 10 minutes. The smaller boat (must fold stroller) goes WL/CR/FW. It is very easy to go to CR to eat at Chef Mickeys or FW for the pony rides or Trails End. There is a bus to the TTC so you can get to the Poly very easily if you like their resturants. Buses every where else. We rarely waited more than 5-10 minutes for a bus or boat. In the am you share with GF, the PM varies, mostly FW. The rooms are nice, a little on the small side. The bed are great! Big rustic ones that are very high off the ground! Each room has a balacony (terrace on 2nd floor).

I can't comment on the Poly or GF since I've not stayed there.

I would say the CR would be the best for you. You can walk to MK and the rooms are larger than the other resorts (except Poly - same size). These are the two original hotels and the room sizes are larger. The Monorail is a big plus for either CR or Poly.

WL has boat service and it leaves every 20 minutes or so. If you were at the CR the monorail would take approx 15 minutes to get to MK, it goes the opposite way and CR is the first stop from MK so MK is the last stop from CR. You could walk faster from CR than taking the monorail but it's more fun to ride the monorail.

Which ever resort you choose be sure to make a PS at Cheif Mickey's in the CR for breakfest.

Good luck and have a great trip.

We just stayed at the CR this week. Although the location the the MK can not be beat, if you have a small child make sure you take your own stroller. We thought it would be easier to rent and not have to worry about it when we were park hopping but ended up wishing we would have had our own for the walk back to the hotel from the MK with a sleeping child.

Our room was in the North Garden wing and was Ok. VERRY dirty (the bathroom wall had not been cleaned in a ages and had blood and "stuff" on it that was just gross), had poor customer service (the room they gave us to check into had not been cleaned from the people before and I contacted the front desk, no I'm sorry or anything. Had to walk back to the front desk (carrying a sleeping child and hand luggage) to get another room assignment. They never appologized or anything and it was a bad start to our trip.

It was a long walk to the monorail from our room but I have never stayed anywhere else to compare it to.

rhiansmom,

Sorry your trip started out bad. I too had one at CR but they were very good about fixing things, except they never offered to refund the night in question.

Someone before me had gotten sick in the room beside the beds and it was cleaned up but the oder was still there. The first night they came to spot clean the rug and spray. The next morning the oder came back and they offered to move us but I wanted that room, so while we went to the parks that day housekeeping came in a removed all furniture and shampooed the carpets and replaced the furniture before we retruned.

They did do everything in there power but I would have thought they would have not charged me for the first night.

Of course you pay more for the Poly than the CR and the WL, but I believe it's well worth it, for theming, location and atmosphere in the case of CR, and for location alone in the case of WL.

WL - I know the above poster had great experience with WL transportation, but I had a hard time with the boat in Oct. 2001, and many others on these boards have complained about transportation being the only drawback to WL (it is a breathtakingly beautiful resort with terrific service, great pool, etc.) Pricewise, you save a lot over the other two, and that's because it is much less convenient.

The CR is great for its proximity to MK. There's nothing else about it that's a particular WOW, unless you have a tower lagoon view. That's something special!

THE POLY!! It rules for its location on BOTH monorails (you can easily walk to TTC from ay room at the Poly, though some are closer than others - bring your stroller), its grounds are beautiful, service is great, and the theming is very lush. My family also loves the restaurants there. With a toddler, you gotta be thinkin' how can you most easily get back to your quiet room?...I'd go with Poly.

GF is beautiful and elegant, too. What the heck, you're going to WDW. What could be bad...(except for that yucky, dirty room in CR? Eew, glad we don't hear too many report like that.)
