For two adults, no kids, no buffets. Maybe a mimosa or bloody mary :littleangel:

I am thinking either Kona Cafe, based off of everyone's reviews, or Grand Floridian Cafe.

Honestly Kona looks like every other restaurant to me. The GFC looks beautiful!

I even thought about Ohana. Good atmosphere right?

Thoughts?

Grand Floridian Cafe and Kona Cafe for breakfast are 1a and 1b, slight edge to the GFC for us (for breakfast).

I love love love the food at Kona, but I have never eaten at GFC.

Ohana is nice but it is a character meal.

Kona is our choice when we're in the area and the Grand Floridian Cafe is also good. The all-time best is long gone, though. Before California Grill ruined things, the Top of the World at the Contemporary had a fantastic breakfast, especially for adults. It was quiet, had a great view and service, and offered both menu service and buffet. Their Sunday brunch was leaps and bounds above anyplace Disney (or anyplace) has now. If you remember it, you know what I'm saying. If you don't, well, you probably won't get a lot of what I write about the way WDW used to be.

We LOVE breakfast at the Wave in the CR... the atmosphere is definitely better at the GFC....but the food at the Wave is better IMHO...never crowded, calm and quiet. Great service. Actually GFC, Wave or Kona are all pretty primo breakfast spots if you ask me!

Kona may look like other restaurants, but check out their menu. The macadmia pancakes and Tonga toast are different.

FWIW I wasn't impressed by Kona. Yes, I had the mac-pineapple pancakes. Thought they were rather flavorless.

Maybe they had an off-day or maybe I'm just strange.

Another vote for Kona. It is the only place we NEVER miss on each and every visit to WDW. Macadamia nut pancakes are soooooo good!

Voting Kona! The Tonga Toast is very popular here on the Dis. We also love the environment of the Poly much more than GF.

We've eaten at both - both are very good. In fact we have alternating breakfast reservations at each for our upcoming trip. If I had to choose only one, however - I'd go with Kona. Tonga Toast and the best cup of coffee I've personally had at any of the WDW resorts! :thumbsup2

I agree. Kona is amazing!!!! Tonga toast is to die for. Their pressed coffee pot rocks, so does their lilikoi juice. They have a great menu. I highly recommend it.

Ohana is also wonderful....if you dont mind dining with characters, i say go for it!

Have you also considered Kouzzina at the boardwalk? they have a unique menu.

Add me to the list for Kona! We ate there in June and it was fabulous. I had the Macadamia nut pineapple pancakes, my mom had the tonga toast and DH had the Somoan which is poached eggs with hollandaise over pulled pork hash. The portions were huge and we all shared, it was so good! We also got the pressed coffee pot which was so much better than the normal Disney coffee.

You're absolutely right about the Grand Floridian Café. It has the better breakfast menu and far superior ambiance.

I also recommend looking in to Kouzzina's breakfast if you have another day where proximity to the Magic Kingdom isn't an issue. Their breakfast is wonderful and so are their bloody Marys.

All these votes for Kona! I still feel like I would enjoy the GFC more as I am a savory breakfast kinda girl, but my BF is deciding this one and he agrees with all of you! Kona it is!

We might try Kouzzina on our AK day as we are staying at the Dolphin.

So how to I get to the Poly from the Dolphin? Bus to MK and then the resort monorail? I think it's going to take a while!

Thanks again!!

Yes, that's what I would do. It could take a while. I'd allow yourself at least 45 minutes.

my DW and I love the GFC and eat breakfast there every since our honeymoon.

That said, our kids love the Kona and we have to eat breakfast there every trip as well.

As our kids are getting older we usually just alternate between the two when we eat large breakfasts.

A couple of years ago, we were staying at AsMu and had a 7AM at Chef Mickeys. We ask at the concierge desk abt transportation and they said there would be a bus that would take us directly to the Contemporary, we just need to be at the bus stop by 6:30. We got there and were asked where we need to go and about 5 mins later a bus showed up with Magic Kingdom Resort on it board. We got on and were delivered to the Contemporary within plenty of time for our ADR. The same thing should be true for the Poly or GF (if your ADR is before park opening)
