With a DS4 and DS2 I would recommend O'hana for dinner. Good kid friendly food and fun games for the kids with the Hawaiian performer whose name escapes me right now.
We're not huge foodies, so really we're just looking for a good option for the kids. And we have a character meal at MK.
We've got a reservation at Ohana (and I know people always rave about it), but wasn't sure if there was a better kid-friendly option (Disney...it's almost all kid-friendly, right?). Glad to hear they've got entertainment and activities! Sounds like a good choice for us! Thanks much!
Given the ages of your kids, I would vote for either 'Ohana, Chef Mickey's, or Whispering Canyon Cafe. CM has mediocre food, but it has characters. WCC is pretty lively and at dinner there are usually some antics. However, I do agree that 'Ohana is probably the best option. I like the food and there are activities (coconut races) for kids.
It depends on where you are coming from...if you're already at the MK, then getting to any of the MK's resorts is pretty easy. Assuming no issues, you can to any of the resorts in less than 30 minutes via monorail or ferry (depending on which resort).
Oooh! I had forgotten about Whispering Canyon! DP and I took my nephew there on a trip this April and he loved it. He was 10 at the time but I think the OP's four year old would like it, too. The antics here were fun for all at the table.
Ohana gets my vote. We were just there thanksgiving week and Ohana was one of our best meals. The characters are fun at chef mickeys but after many trips there we won't be returning because the food has just gone down hill.
Via Napoli at Epcot was also a family favorite this trip.
