Best MK Attractions for 5 Year Old

The best advise I have is sit through the youtube videos of every ride you're considering, then it takes the surprise out of it when you get there. She might be able to tell you right off the bat, no, this isn't okay.

Here is one for Peter Pan's Flight:

Keep in mind cameras don't tell the true darkness of something. I found the ride to be much lighter than this, though, and everything is dayglo bright.

Philharmagic would be a good match I'd think. Not a ride, but a fantastic show. And Peter Pan is in the dark but the vehicle moves really slowly and nothing about would seem that scary to a little one imo. Under the Sea, Winnie the Pooh, the Carrousel, Teacups, even the Railroad is pretty entertaining.

Oh yes, ETWB is definitely on our list (that would be one without DS)....as well as Under the Sea Little Mermaid.

Will have to see about Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain.

I don't think Pirates of the Caribbean would interest her as much. She's a real girly girl.

The Barnstomer lists 35" so height-wise she is ok.

Can someone tell me more about Peter Pan? Disney site has no height restriction and lists preschoolers. I know this is a FP one if we go on it.

Not sure if DS is skipping them just because they are "girly" or not but if that is the reason I would include him anyways. Although alot of attractions/rides may be princess themed many boys really enjoy them as well. Heck I think my DS9 enjoyed dinner with the princesses almost as much as my dd5 did if not more.

If there is another reason I am sorry for assuming and the misguided advice.

I did! See above! Enchanted tales with belle!

Sorry I obviously missed that, I'm not used to seeing it spelled out! Lol

That is very good to hear. We have 2 princess meals planned (CRT and Akershus)...only wanted CRT for sure but Akershus just worked out as we wanted a breakfast on our Epcot day.

And yes, your understanding is correct. I guess cause of the 2 meals, I may not subject him to girly rides/attractions...at least if there is something else he can do at the same time that DD wouldn't like. Hence, all this planning....

Great idea to watch videos of anything you have questions about!

The one thing I'll share about Peter Pan though is that even though I've ridden it a lot in the past, I didn't really have a memory of how dark it was for the passengers until this most recent trip. We took DS (11 months) on it for his first ride, and he cried the whole time - I'm pretty sure because he couldn't see me or DH. And the hardest part for me was that I couldn't see him either! We could feel him as we held him close to comfort him, but we couldn't see anything for almost the entire ride except for the parts of his outfit that were glowing in the dark. Poor baby... So if your child is sensitive to the dark in that kind of way where it would weird her out to not be able to see your face, just keep that in mind.

Other tame things we find fun: Country Bear Jamboree, Carousel of Progress, the Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, Swiss Family Treehouse, and Peoplemover (which does have periods of dark, but not extended).

Have a great trip!

Thank you for the warning..and am so sorry your poor 11 month old was so scared. This is good to know as my DD doesn't love the dark. Hmm..maybe that is why it was so hard to tell much about the ride on the you tube video...as I couldn't see much. I did have Peter Pan marked for both kids but maybe I should reconsider.

Soooo much for a 5 year old to do at the MK! We went when my DD was 4.5 and just turned 6. She is a BIG chicken! Her favorites are...

Pirates of the Car.
Haunted Mansion
Magic Carpets
Its a Small World
Buzz Light Year
Jungle Cruise
Monsters Laugh Floor
Peter Pan
Peoplemover (so bummed it was closed on our trip)

Other rides she liked
Pooh
Carousel
Under the Sea
Dumbo
Tiki Room
Country Bears
Carousel of Progress
Philamargic (or however it is spelled!)
Riding the train

We got her on the Barnstormer this year which she didn't hate but we still avoid Splash and Big Thunder.

Awesome list...thanks.

She didn't hate Barnstormet, but did she like it? That's another one I'm on the fence with.
